Job Description:

Responsibilities

The Hourly Project Assistant II will assist with the development of new definitions for both depression and anxiety syndromes. The Hourly Project Assistant II will be responsible for conducting literature reviews, learning ICD-10 codes on depression and anxiety, and validating the CDC Essence Syndromic Data. The Hourly Project Assistant II will assist to evaluate and improve the existing BSDS syndromic definitions. 

The Bureau of Surveillance and Data Systems (BSDS) is responsible for the management and oversight of several DOH mission-critical surveillance systems. For this project, the Bureau aims to focus on mental health, with a goal to develop definitions for both anxiety and depression syndromes. Mental Health continues to be a challenging issue in public health, with an increasing prevalence across New York State.

Minimum Qualifications

A graduate student enrolled in Public Health or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Basic understanding of public health. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with data analysis using SAS, database, and analytical concepts.

Conditions of Employment
Grant funded, hourly position expected to last through 12/13/2024. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.


Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will not be available.
