Team Lead, Diagnostic Imaging
About the Role
The Team Lead provides day to day operational oversight and leadership for the diagnostic imaging team ensuring accountability and service excellence across the department. Reporting to the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging, this role oversees scheduling, workflow coordination, equipment and inventory management, and serves as the primary contact for patient escalations.
The Team Lead also supports staff development and provides direct clinical care as needed.
This full-time, 18‑month contract role. The position is scheduled Monday to Friday during regular clinic hours, with the potential for a permanent technologist role following the contract period.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Workflow Management
Assess clinic volumes and allocate staff, equipment, and space effectively
Prioritize and adjust workflows to support safe, efficient patient care
Manage staff schedules, duty assignments, and break coverage
Monitor team productivity and address workflow issues
Quality & Process Improvement
Identify opportunities for quality and service improvements
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards
Support development and updates of SOPs, policies, and training materials
Lead quality meetings and represent the team on committees
Equipment & Inventory Oversight
Oversee equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control checks
Manage supplies, ordering, invoicing, and vendor relationships
Communication & Patient Support
Address and de‑escalate patient concerns
Lead team meetings and share operational updates
Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners to support smooth workflows
Escalate important issues to the Manager/Senior Manager as needed
Clinical Responsibilities
Prepare patients and perform diagnostic imaging exams
Document and process patient data
Operate, maintain, and perform QC on equipment
Review previous reports and coordinate with radiologists/physicians
Leadership Support (in partnership with the Manager)
Staff Engagement & Development
Provide leadership for all DI modalities and the DI Coordinator
Promote a supportive, respectful team culture
Support staff through coaching, feedback, and performance discussions
Engage staff in process improvement and patient‑experience initiatives
Performance Management
Provide mentorship and timely performance feedback
Identify and escalate concerns; support action planning
Monitor staff development progress
Support annual performance reviews and documentation
Recruitment & Onboarding
Assess staffing needs and support hiring activities
Participate in resume screening and interviews
Support onboarding, training plans, and systems access
Requirements
Current CMRITO membership
Minimum 5+ years as a Medical Imaging Technologist (Sonography, X-Ray, etc)
Proven leadership and operational management experience
Strong communication, organizational, and time‑management skills
Excellent interpersonal and client‑service skills
Ability to troubleshoot equipment and manage inventory
Demonstrated commitment to positive team culture and staff development
Position Pay Range
$73,699.00 - $101,335.00 CAD annuallyPay will be determined based on an analysis of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications within the role's compensation grade. Medcan's compensation ranges are determined by a combination of required qualifications and skills, market value, and internal equity. The above range pertains solely to the base compensation and is not inclusive of additional compensation details such as perks, benefits, and potential bonuses or incentives.
