JOB DESCRIPTION:

SUMMARY OF POSITION

A Peer Crisis Specialist assists clients with articulating personal goals for recovery as well as teaching clients’ problem-solving skills to strengthen personal recovery. Position advocates for clients with the treatment team and external referral sources when needed.  Assists clients in determining reasonable and holistic steps moving into recovery and identify barriers to recovery goals.  Will be expected to deploy with the team in the community to people experiencing a mental health and/or addiction crisis. Help transport others to resources as applicable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deployment with a team in the community when someone is experiencing a mental health and/or addiction crisis.
  • Assist consumers in determining reasonable and holistic steps moving into recovery and identifying barriers to recovery goals.
  • Assist consumers with identifying personal strengths in daily living and recovery skills.
  • Assist non-consumer staff in identifying program elements that are supportive or destructive to recovery.
  • Facilitate evidence-based protocol work i.e. documentation and follow-up
  • Engage clients in skills to assist with de-escalation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in person and virtual methods.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Level              

High School Diploma or GED required. 

Years of Experience       

  • Self-identify as a voice of recovery with lived mental health and/or addiction experience and/or qualifies as an individual who has supported an immediate family member through recovery.
  • Must be maintaining healthy recovery from mental illness and/or addiction.

Certification/Licensure 

Must become State Certified within 90 days or attend the first available State training from date of hire.

$16.50--$23.10
