About This Job

Provide hands‑on technical leadership for the pod delivering data enhancements across SQL Server/SSIS/SSRS/Fivetran/Python/DBT. Steward architecture decisions, code quality, CI/CD, observability, and SLA/KPI attainment. Own the DoD and ensure each work item reaches 'Ready for QA' with high first‑pass quality.

  • Key Responsibilities

    • Own technical design for ETL/ELT pipelines and DBT models; review PRs; enforce standards for performance, reliability, and security.
    • Lead ADO→GitHub migration and CI/CD hardening; implement pipeline observability and error‑budget practices tied to SLIs/SLOs.
    • Define DoD for 'Ready for QA' (tests, data validation, lineage docs); drive FPQ > 90% and MTTR ≤ 1 day for defects inside the sprint.
    • Coach engineers and coordinate with DataOps/Platform for environments, secrets, and least‑privilege access.
    • Partner with BA on acceptance criteria and with Scrum Master on sprint predictability and spillover management.
    • Represent the pod in stakeholder reviews, incident post‑mortems, and quarterly health assessments.

    SLIs/SLOs & Observability

    • Real‑time dashboards: pipeline execution status, data quality scores, SLO performance vs targets, error budget consumption.
    • Alerting thresholds (P1–P4) with defined response times and escalation paths.

    Target Performance

    • Intake Responsiveness: < 2 business days (≈ 13 hours of productive time).
    • Development Cycle Time: 5–8 days to reach Ready for QA (32.5–52 productive hours).
    • FPQ: > 90% accepted first pass by external QA.
    • MTTR: < 1 business day (≈ 6.5 productive hours).
    • Timeliness: ≥ 95% on‑time delivery.

    Qualifications

    • 8+ years in data engineering; expert in SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, Python, DBT; working knowledge of Fivetran and Tableau.
    • Proven track record leading pods/teams to managed‑service outcomes (throughput, cycle time, predictability) with strong DoD and quality gates.
    • Experience implementing observability (dashboards/alerts/runbooks) and data quality SLIs/SLOs.

    Tools & Stack (Pod)

    • Data: SQL Server, SSIS, DBT, Python, Fivetran
    • BI/Reporting: Tableau, SSRS
    • DevOps/Workflow: Azure DevOps (ADO), GitHub (migration/hardening)
    • Governance: Collibra (lineage/catalog), Apigee/OutSystems (where applicable)

    Work Schedule & Collaboration

    • Coverage with US‑hour overlap; able to support releases and critical incidents within agreed SLA windows.
