Maine Youth Action Network (MYAN) program
Gateway to Opportunity (G2O) connects youth workers with peer cohorts, near-peer mentors, and adult partners in project-based learning teams for 6 weeks every summer. The Team Leader will work directly with a team of up to 4 traditionally underserved high school-aged youth to complete project-based work at a local host site. The Team Leader will be responsible for the daily facilitation and project oversight of the youth team. This team will design and complete a project at a local business or organization and work closely with a host site supervisor throughout the 6-week program. The Team Leader will support project development and career readiness activities, oversee daily program and reflection activities, provide one-on-one support to individual youth, and help facilitate group workshops and field trips.
Schedule: This is a 25 hour/week, hourly position, four days a week.
Location: Multiple host sites, statewide in Maine. Position location is based on host site assignment.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
High school diploma or equivalency
Experience working with youth or leadership development programs strongly preferred.
Knowledge of or connection to the local community preferred.
Group work and facilitation experience preferred.
An understanding of teamwork, leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
Demonstrated leadership and strong work ethic.
Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries, including online and on social media.
Exhibits basic software and internet research abilities.
Ability to demonstrate competent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background, child protective service check and sex offender check.
Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings but is not a primary and essential job responsibility.
