Job Summary:

The Music Therapist will provide high quality individualized music therapy to patients and families.

Qualifications:

o Degree in Music Therapy from an AMTA accredited university required
o Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) or eligible to become board certified
o 6 month internship at an AMTA approved clinical training facility
o Ability to play at least 1 accompanying instrument with above average proficiency
o Previous music therapy experience in hospice or healthcare field preferred
o Valid Drivers’ License with good record & reliable transportation
o Automobile Insurance
o Clear level 2 background check

         

 Job Responsibilities:

o Provide & direct musical therapy services in all patient settings
o Initiate music therapy programs & instruct other personnel &/or family/caregivers how they may work with the patient
o Actively participate in bereavement activities
o Documents initial evaluations, progress notes, patient / family responses to music therapy and outcomes from music therapy
o Collaborate with other team personnel to achieve well-rounded care

o Functional ability in voice, guitar and keyboard
o Ability to transpose & improvise
o Excellent communication; via phone, in person and email
o Attention to detail & ability to handle confidential information following HIPPA guidelines
