The Release & Deployment Engineer is a member of RSM's technical services group and is responsible for enterprise device management, standards, and deployment infrastructure.  Role includes Management of software, group policies, login scripts, operating systems, security updates, and creation of PC images. Management of software which includes software packaging, automation, delivery, evaluation, compatibility testing, driver management, inventory, and utilization reporting. Management of hardware which provides evaluation, compatibility testing, and inventory reporting. The engineer will work closely with IT management and other functional groups to deploy, administer, and provide ownership responsibility for RSMs enterprise deployment systems, both software, and hardware. 

The individual selected for this position will need to have a significant understanding of operating systems, hardware, deployment processes and tools, and familiarity with enterprise systems to include Office 365, MECM, Intune, and Admin Studio.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Provide software packaging and distribution services to the global RSM PC environment. Involves the managing of deployment projects, coordination with lines of business, packaging of software for distribution using various packaging technologies, facilitation of testing/piloting processes and environments, and the deployment of the software. Consulting with application owners to optimize application configurations and data management methodologies. The engineer will be responsible for automating and customizing applications using the following technologies: Included but not limited to Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), PowerShell, VB Script, Intune, Autopilot, hybrid connection between Intune and MECM, and Flexara's Admin Studio for MSI creation.  
  • Provide subject matter expertise (SME) related to end-user hardware, software installs and deployment, security patching workstations and servers, and hardware peripherals. SME for project initiatives, level 3 support, and management requests. This role supports internal development, functional technology related to end-user hardware and software deployment and assist project teams on a recurring basis. Monitors and optimizes PC health functionality based on industry best practices. Implements upgrades, deployment enhancements, and fixes following established change management procedures.
  • Systems management of assigned enterprise applications, software deployment and asset management (Microsoft MECM), virtual test environments (vSphere & Citrix), and other specialized tools needed to perform required duties such as Flexara’s Admin Studio.
  • The Engineer will be responsible for supporting, and maintaining a standard PC image for multiple business lines. Involves ensuring the latest release of supported applications, drivers, security patches, compatibility testing with standard Software, and automating the process to include a light-touch approach. Create strategy, design, and implement changes in group policy and MECM compliance baselines to ensure endpoint computing standards are enforced.
  • Perform evaluations of hardware and software as well as Identify and remediate compatibility issues.
  • Conduct assessments of new or updated operating systems, software applications, and hardware.
  • Other duties as assigned such as reporting, training, and rotational on-call duty.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, other IT discipline, or equivalent experience required.

TECHNICAL/SOFT SKILLS

  • 4-6 years of IT experience - required.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply complex technical publications and documentation - required.
  • 1-2 years’ experience with desktop automation and inventory tools - preferred.
  • A fundamental understanding of programming/scripting languages - preferred.
  • A fundamental understanding of automated software installation processes - preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, Microsoft Office, virtualization technologies, and distributed computing technologies - preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • Developing and maintaining of enterprise system policies - required.
  • PC support knowledge/experience with group policy objects and Microsoft registry management techniques - preferred.
  • Microsoft MECM administration for software deployments, patch management, and imaging -preferred.
  • Basic programming - preferred.
  • Software packaging - preferred.
  • VB Scripting - preferred.

LEADERSHIP SKILLS

  • Experience leading small to medium technical projects - preferred.
