Job Summary
The Red Hat Business Controls team is looking for an intern to join us in Cork, IE. In this role, you will assist us as we value and improve our operations by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to the monitoring of our risk management, control, and governance processes. As a key support, you will be addressing business risk issues and processes that impact both current and future control requirements. You will also help us maintain visibility of our control posture and track and manage any issues to resolution. As an intern, you’ll need to have the ability to work cross-functionally with finance, global process business teams, and key stakeholders, using your skills in dissecting issues and helping deliver clear recommendations to reduce risk and improve control results. You will report to the Manager of Business Controls.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor the adequacy and effectiveness of internal control, accuracy, and completeness of reporting, compliance with laws and regulations, and timely remediation of deficiencies for both operational, SOX and other audits;

  • Guide adherence to Red Hat’s Business Controls framework, including coordination of management reviews;

  • Review and enhance control standards and policies established by leadership;

  • Proactively provide recommendations and consulting support to management and associates on business process issues,  IT matters, risk assessments, and controls;

  • Provide end-to-end support for reviews and audits of finance, IT and business processes; and

  • Collaborate with team members and project leaders to simultaneously manage risk and control reviews for multiple business projects.

Required Skills

  • Enrolled at an accredited university in Ireland for the whole period of the internship studying finance, accounting, commerce or similar courses with substantial business-related content;

  • Available for a full-time internship (37.5h / week) from June to September 2024;

  • Working knowledge of written and spoken English;

  • Positive attitude;

  • Solid spreadsheet skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, etc;

  • Ability to quickly learn and interact with new software applications;

  • Motivated with good creative problem-solving and analytical skills; and

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on collaboration.
