What you will do

In this vital role you will lead and be responsible for the development of HTA and national access strategies to drive patient access and reimbursement. You will provide strategic guidance and develop value tools to support and advance Amgen's brands.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Health Economists responsible for developing and implementing highly effective National Access (including pricing) strategies to enable reimbursement throughout the UK and Ireland (NICE, SMC, NCPE)
  • Partner with Global HEOR and local agencies to ensure delivery of global value resources (including health economic models, detailed reviews, network meta-analyses, costing studies, value dossiers) and that they reflect the methodological requirements of UK and Ireland HTA agencies
  • Working in partnership with global colleagues to ensure optimal approach to reimbursement
  • In line with Amgen’s Policy Strategy, defining critical policy influences and levers relating to HTA and reimbursement priorities, delivering clear insight and recommendations to the business to influence future policy change.. This will require a focused senior stakeholder plan within reimbursement bodies in addition to supporting wider Industry Association strategies aimed at delivering policy change, aligned to VPAG and other associated pathways for change.
  • In line with the above policy strategy, you will lead the external stakeholder engagement plan with relevant HTA bodies and related influencing organisation and will ensure that timely insights are shared through the UK and GVA organisation as appropriate
  • Act as the SME on HTA policy for the UK and collaborate closely with the Head of Market Access to support policy advocacy
  • Develop a strong partnership with the Head of Access and Policy and Head of Healthcare Solutions to support delivery of medicines optimisation and access strategies and value/access materials, leveraging the expertise of the Health Economics team where appropriate 
  • Represent UK/I function on global strategic and implementation teams as required
  • Strategic leadership of the Health Economics and Reimbursement team ensuring current and future capabilities are aligned to organisational priorities

As a key member of our highly experienced Value Access & Policy (VA&P) team, you will lead the Health Economics and Reimbursement team, located in the UK and will report to the Senior Director of VAP, UK & Ireland.

  • Doctorate degree and directly related experience
  • Consistent track record in health economics or market access attained either in industry or consultancy/agency with experience of developing high quality HTA submissions
  • Proven HTA policy expertise
  • Ability to organise and implement plans against objectives in a semi-autonomous environment while also working effectively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Strong understanding of strategic pricing and contracting, including innovative approaches such as risk-sharing deals
  • Ability to review clinical and health economic literature, including disease state information, clinical trial design and results, and pharmacoeconomic studies in order to understand implications for payers
  • Appreciation for cultural diversity
