Lab Planning and Design Engineer

We are looking for world-class technical talent to join our Applied Materials Technical Infrastructure team.  This is an onsite position at our R&D site in SCLA, CA

Scope and Objectives:

The R&D Lab supports Applied Materials most advanced semiconductor machines including supporting equipment and facilities infrastructure.

The position is an Engineer supporting design projects, new factory upgrades, and site infrastructure.  This includes pulling together new machine technical facility requirements, SOWs, cost analysis, quality parameters, projected durations, safety requirements, and resourcing requirements.

Responsibilities:

As a Lab Planning and Design Engineer your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Manage multiple projects at a time across diverse groups and stakeholders while optimizing solutions. Partner and collaborate successfully with key stakeholders including factory, facility owners, global supply management, central design, site construction, and suppliers.

  • Manage day-to-day Functional Area Tool Install design and transition to construction operations using lean principles to ensure a safe and quality work environment without interruptions to factory operations.

  • Project Manage Tool Install Design and Construction:

    • Identify Facility Requirements for new projects.

    • Generate Cut Sheets and Facility Data Sheets.

    • Manage tool install design and construction.

    • Resources scheduling to support install.

  • Equipment Operations Support:

    • Establish maintenance programs for Applied and Non-Applied equipment.

    • Support down equipment escalations and troubleshooting.


Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with 5+ years of industry experience in: Project Construction Management, Engineering Tool Ownership, Semi-Conductor Tool Installation or equivalent.

U.S. Salary Range:

$120,000.00 - $165,000.00

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
