Job Summary:
As an Engineering Lead – Backup, you will be focused on the continuous improvement of the global backup infrastructure. This is a multi-technology environment (with a core focus on TSM and Cobalt Iron), and you will be tasked to drive development, lifecycle and simplification efforts to create a robust, easy to operate environment with proven comprehensive coverage of the entire IT asset domain.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and implement integrated backup solutions that enhance the resilience and efficiency of server environments.
- Lead lifecycle planning for backup infrastructure, ensuring solutions remain cutting-edge and scalable.
- Provide expert guidance and technical expertise to teams and projects as consulted.
- Develop strategies for the integration of backup technologies with existing systems, optimizing performance and compatibility.
- Contribute to the creation of operational procedures, system configurations, and best practices documentation.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in backup solutions, applying this knowledge to drive innovation within the organization.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of TSM and Cobalt Iron, both through command line and GUI interfaces.
- Illustrate commensurate depth in at least 1 other backup technology, and the ability to approach that depth on a wider selection of technologies
Preferred Qualifications:
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge:
- Demonstrable personal success in stewarding a complex backup environment at scale
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Demonstrate previous outcomes in process improvement.
- Stakeholder engagement experience
- Documentation and education
- Cross-technology experience and confidence, particularly in networking and OS.
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University; or 10 to 12 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in TSM administration.
- Preferred 4 years of experience in Cobalt Iron administration.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in backup and recovery engineering tasks.
- Minimum 6 years in a senior operations function.
- Office environment.
- Travel as required.
