Electrical Qualified Supervisor

Rotherham

Full Time Permanent.

Salary up to £42,840 per annum, plus, £3500 car allowance.

The Rotherham branch has worked in partnership with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council since 2010 and delivers social housing repairs and maintenance on behalf of the council. The types of work include:

  • Responsive Repairs
  • Voids
  • Aids & Adaptations
  • Planned & Capital Works
  • Fire Damage & Structural Works
  • Estate Caretaking

About the Role:

We are seeking an Electrical Qualified Supervisor to support our delivery of works through a combination of an in-house team and several sub-contractors.

As an Electrical Qualified Supervisor, you would be responsible for ensuring day to day compliance in all electrical matters for our in house and our extended sub-contract work force.

This will include a mixture of office/computer based work in our Rotherham office and field/site based work around the borough of Rotherham and occasionally beyond.

You would report primarily to the General Manager with close links to the central Mears compliance team.

Essential Role Criteria:

  • Full base qualification of NVQ level 3 or equivalent + an end point assessment where relevant
  • Inspection and testing for periodic and initial verification
  • 18th edition BS7671
  • Must hold a Full UK manual Driving License.
  • Be a great team player as well an ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Excellent communication and Customer service skills
  • IT literate
  • Good time management

Desirable Role Criteria:

  • Experience in social housing
  • Previous QS experience
  • PAT testing experience
  • Basic understanding of PV and EV systems

Main Duties of the Role (Not exhaustive):

  • To supervise and oversee electrical work carried out by branch electrical operatives and/or by any sub-contractors
  • To ensure that Inspection and Testing is carried out on ALL electrical work, by reviewing certification, checking that all results are accurate and complete
  • To carry out regular Quality Audits and Competence Assessments of the electrical operatives and electrical contractors
  • To deliver regular Tool Box Talks of an electrical/SHE nature
  • To be responsible for the internal calibration of all test kits and to keep records on Mears Plant and Equipment database in line with Mears published guidelines
  • To attend informal and formal meetings and training sessions to ensure up to date business and job knowledge, communication, skills & progression are maintained.
  • To adopt a professional manner when communicating with service users and/or client/external contacts to build and maintain a positive view of Mears Group
  • To undertake an annual assessment by an external governing body (NICEIC) to ensure that both themselves and the branch retain their registration in accordance with the NICEIC rules of registration.
