Overview:
Processes and supports certain core operational functions within Commercial Loan Participations or Commercial Equipment Leasing, while remaining compliant with Department procedures, Corporate policies, Compliance, Audit and legal requirements. Maintains an in-depth knowledge of all functions within either of these groups to support and process as needed. Supports all projects and serve as subject matter expert (SME) on all initiatives within assigned area. Supports all functions of a Group Leader as needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Complete most complex data entry updates, analysis and interpretation on existing participated or syndicated loans or all types of Commercial equipment leases (repayment structures and terms fall either inside or outside the normal set-up).
- Completes standard and non-standard document review, processing and validation related to funding new syndicated, participated or Bank-owned Commercial equipment lease transactions, non-trust escrow disbursements for Leasing and Construction or remittance funds on existing participated or syndicated loan or lease transaction.
- Complete highly complex standard and non-standard level research spanning multiple business lines.
- Complete most complex level analysis and reconciliation supporting balancing work that crosses multiple business lines.
- Complete highly complex and non-standardized exception processing.
- Serve as main contact point with Commercial bank, internal business partners and or other financial institutions; respond to and/or initiate complex requests related to these activities.
- Serve as SME to less experienced personnel.
- Complete advanced-level interpretation of loan, lease or collateral documents and loan files requiring unique repayment structures that fall outside standard set-ups.
- Complete advanced-level document to system Quality Control and balancing of personal work and that of others.
- Assist management with cross-training and low level job coaching of less experienced personnel.
- Detect and/or work on mid-level escalations and special requests within assigned area.
- Complete monetary remittance and fundings as submitter or approver.
- Complete cross-training in all disciplines/functions of team and serve as back-up for all team functions.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of multiple Bank accounting systems and complete all transactions with each system to support the overall objective of the team.
- Provide project support from department level to Bank level projects and initiatives, utilize and challenge mid- to high-level internal procedures across the Department, assist with management requests to support department audits and serve as back-up to Group Leader as required.
- Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:
Associate’s and a minimum of 2 years’ related work experience,
OR in lieu of a degree,
A combined minimum of 4 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 2 years’ related work experience
Education and Experience Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree
Prior Commercial Loan or Lease Operations experience
Active working knowledge of new lease funding and setup
Prior experience with Commercial Loan Participation Syndication products and servicing
Experienced in loan/lease accounting and document review
