Infrastructure Technology Lead Analyst (Red Hat Linux L3 Support Engineer)

The Infrastructure Technology Lead Analyst is an intermediate-level technical role responsible for providing Level 3 support, engineering, remediation, and operational excellence across the Unified Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) estate consisting of more than 100,000+ servers. The role requires deep expertise in Linux administration, troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues, security hardening, automation, and configuration management. The overall objective is to leverage advanced infrastructure technology knowledge, operational policies, and engineering best practices to maintain platform stability, security, compliance, and service availability.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Level 3 technical support for complex Red Hat Enterprise Linux server incidents, escalations, and critical production outages across a large-scale enterprise environment.
  • experience in handling large scale RHEL upgrades from 7 to 8, 8 to 9 is preferred.
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution of high-impact operating system, kernel, performance, storage, networking, and server infrastructure issues to restore services within agreed SLAs.
  • Perform detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) following service restoration and implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring issues.
  • Design and implement server security hardening standards in accordance with enterprise security policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Manage vulnerability remediation activities, security patching, operating system lifecycle management, and compliance controls across the Red Hat server estate.
  • Administer and troubleshoot infrastructure agents including monitoring, security, backup, automation, compliance, and endpoint management agents deployed across Linux servers.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize Ansible playbooks for server provisioning, configuration management, patching, security remediation, and operational automation.
  • Automate repetitive operational tasks and develop engineering solutions to improve platform stability, efficiency, and operational resilience.
  • Review infrastructure requirements, define operating system standards, and update operational processes, procedures, and technical documentation as required.
  • Conduct proactive system health reviews, capacity planning, performance tuning, and operational risk assessments.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and strategic guidance to team members and operational support teams.
  • Collaborate with security, application, middleware, storage, network, and infrastructure teams to resolve cross-functional technical challenges.
  • Support operating system upgrades, migrations, disaster recovery exercises, and business continuity initiatives.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate governance standards, and security frameworks.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Red Hat Enterprise Linux platforms and associated technologies when engaging with senior stakeholders, engineering teams, and project groups.
  • Operate independently with minimal supervision while demonstrating strong ownership, sound judgment, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; adhering to policy; applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices; and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration and troubleshooting.
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux kernel, system performance tuning, networking, storage, LVM, multipathing, clustering, and filesystem management.
  • Experience in enterprise server security hardening, vulnerability management, and compliance frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with Ansible automation and playbook development.
  • Experience with Chef configuration management and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Knowledge of monitoring, backup, security, and compliance agents deployed in enterprise Linux environments.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical production environments at large scale.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, incident management, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Familiarity with virtualization, cloud technologies, and DevOps practices is advantageous.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience.
