Job Title: Co-op, Supplier Quality Engineering

Department: Quality Engineering

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Overview:

The Global Supplier Quality Engineering team is responsible for driving Quality Engineering activities across Insulet’s component, service, and finished goods suppliers. The Co-op position will work closely with engineers on selection, qualification, and management of Insulet’s suppliers.

• Closely works with manufacturers and service suppliers to ensure product / service quality meets lnsulet requirements. 

• Interfaces with other Insulet departments (e.g., Operations, Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, Packaging and Regulatory Affairs) as well as with suppliers and other external parties on issues related to product quality.

• Effectively communicates Quality metrics through supplier scorecards and Management Review to the organization, suppliers, and Executive Management.

• Insulet focuses on professional development of co-op students. Each co-op has a manager who works with them to achieve desired learning outcomes based on the preferences of the co-op.

Responsibilities:

•     Work hands-on with lab equipment (Optical Gage, Microscopes, Battery Testers, etc.) to aid Quality Inspections or Root Cause Analysis activities.

•     Aid Engineers in driving component approval plans.

•     Lead at least one (1) continuous improvement project to improve a supplier quality process.

•     Improve internal processes (data analysis, workflow systems, etc.) by automating tasks and standardizing methods using applicable software skills (VBA, etc.).

•     Apply Six Sigma & Lean concepts

•     Assist/Lead Engineering Change Orders (ECO) to improve product & process design specifications.

•     Assist/Lead communication on design or process changes with suppliers

•     Performs other duties as required.

Education and Experience:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in undergraduate mechanical, industrial, packaging science or bio-engineering program.
  • 3.0 GPA or better.

Preferred Skills and Competencies:   

  • Mechanical aptitude / hands on mentality.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Data Analysis: Minitab, JMP, Excel.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Physical Requirements (if applicable):           

  • Lab Testing/Inspections using relevant equipment.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $23.00 - $29.75. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
