Job Summary

Job Description

DUTIES: Provide technical leadership in providing system architectures and solutions to bring to market new innovative products which span web service offerings; lead engineering functions as they relate to the planning, design, integration, test, deployment and support of products; utilize Agile development methodologies to develop enterprise-scale software solutions for data communications, including Ethernet services, Wavelength services, and Cloud services; create business models that track the development and implementation of data communications products; justify business cases for complex software systems; assist with testing and operational activities; develop long term objectives and plans to determine resources, technology and course of action to achieve results; work with other members of cross functional teams, joint ventures, third party vendors and Company’s product managers and marketing teams to deliver quality products, in a timely fashion, that meet defined requirements; participate in Company product lifecycle process; contribute to and create product and technical requirements, detailed design documents including transaction, capacity and bandwidth models, systems definitions, and operational procedures as part of this process; anticipate and interpret customer needs, assess requirements and identify solutions; ensure that projects are properly accepted into the Engineering team, worked on in a timely and efficient manner and smoothly transitioned into quality assurance and operations teams; interpret internal/external business issues and recommend complete solutions based on best practices and proven technologies; provide guidance for the performance and reliability of various cross platform applications and services; ensures that system failures are restored in a timely manner; and guide and mentor junior-level engineers.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, and five (5) years of experience creating business models that track the development and implementation of data communications products; and justifying business cases for complex software systems; of which two (2) years includes utilizing Agile development methodologies to develop enterprise-scale software solutions for data communications, including Ethernet services, Wavelength services, and Cloud services. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, the employer will accept an additional two (2) years of experience creating business models that track the development and implementation of data communications products.
