​Leidos is seeking a Senior Migration Architect to lead cloud transformation efforts for the United States Coast Guard at C5ISC in Alexandria, VA. You'll define the strategic roadmap for migrating critical capabilities that support mission-critical Coast Guard operations to cloud infrastructure.

​Primary Tasks:

​Cloud Migration & Modernization 

  • ​Lead complex cloud migration projects from planning through execution 
  • ​Assess existing IT infrastructure and legacy applications to determine cloud readiness 
  • ​Assess legacy systems and design modernization strategies including containerization and microservices 
  • ​Develop migration methodologies and ensure minimal organizational disruption during transitions 
  • ​Facilitate customer onboarding and implement a consistent pathway to cloud adoption 
  • ​Optimize application performance and reliability in cloud environments 
  • ​Designing target cloud architectures, select appropriate migration patterns and establish governance frameworks for cloud operations. 
  • ​Ensures cloud migrations maintain or improve performance, security, and compliance standards while optimizing costs and leveraging cloud-native capabilities. 

​Strategic Architecture & Design 

  • ​Design and architect scalable, resilient, and secure cloud solutions for legacy systems/capabilities to migrate to AWS or Azure platforms 
  • ​Develop cloud strategy and roadmaps aligned with organization objectives and technical requirements 
  • ​Create reference architectures, design patterns, and technical standards for cloud implementations 
  • ​Lead architectural reviews and provide guidance on complex technical decisions 
  • ​Technical Leadership 
  • ​Serve as a primary technical authority on migrating legacy, on-prem systems to the cloud 
  • ​Mentor, guide and supervise legacy system technology teams while migrating their environments 
  • ​Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and assess their potential impact on organizational goals 
  • ​Drive adoption of DevOps practices, infrastructure as code, and automation frameworks 

​Security & Compliance 

  • ​Design secure cloud architectures implementing zero-trust principles and defense-in-depth strategies 
  • ​Ensure compliance with industry standards (SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, etc.) and regulatory requirements 
  • ​Cost Management & Optimization 
  • ​Monitor and optimize cloud spending through rightsizing, reserved instances, and automation 
  • ​Implement cost allocation strategies and provide regular cost analysis and recommendations 
  • ​Design solutions that balance performance requirements with cost considerations 
  • ​Establish governance frameworks for cloud resource management 
  • ​Collaboration & Communication 
  • ​Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions 
  • ​Collaborate with cross-functional teams including development, operations, security, and product management 
  • ​Present architectural designs and recommendations to executive leadership 
  • ​Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation

​Qualifications:  

  • ​Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related technical field 
  • ​Preferred Education: Master's degree in Computer Science, Cloud Computing, or MBA with technical background 
  • ​Experience Requirements: ​
  • 8+ years of overall IT experience 
  • ​8+ years of hands-on cloud architecture and implementation experience 
  • ​4+ years of experience with both AWS and Azure platforms 
  • ​Proven track record of managing cloud transformation projects exceeding $1M in scope 
  • ​Expertise In Azure and AWS (Certifications): 
  • ​AWS Solutions Architect Professional 
  • ​Azure Solutions Architect Expert

Multi-Cloud and Integration Skills 

  • ​Cross-Platform Expertise: 
  • ​Design patterns for multi-cloud and hybrid architectures 
  • ​Cloud-to-cloud integration and data synchronization strategies 
  • ​Cost optimization across multiple cloud providers 
  • ​Migration Services Expertise 
  • ​The 6 R's framework (Rehost, Replatform, Refactor, Rearchitect, Retire, Retain) 
  • ​Wave-based migration planning and execution 
  • ​Infrastructure and DevOps Qualifications 
  • ​Infrastructure as Code: 
  • ​Terraform for multi-cloud deployments

Pay Range:

Pay Range $92,300.00 - $166,850.00
