Our Underground Drilling division is currently seeking a Lead Software Developer. The role is full-time, permanent and located in Tampere (Myllypuro), Finland.

The Underground Drilling division within Business area Mining is an industry leading global provider of drilling equipment for underground mining and tunneling industry with focus on technology development and future innovative solutions to enable sustainable operations for our customers. Sandvik Mining and Construction Oy’s Tampere site is a global technology and manufacturing center for Underground Drilling equipment.
 

Your role:

We are looking for a Senior level software developer with strong communication skills. The software team develops new features and regular update releases for large underground drills product portfolio.  The portfolio is divided in four product families which share a large common software code base. The team develops multiple products and software variants simultaneously, aiming for regular releases and fix-releases when needed.

This role is hands-on lead developer role enabling commonality potential realization between product families both in Tampere and other Underground Drillig R&D sites like Lyon, France. Lead role includes co-operation and coordination of architecture and release plans with other teams and achieve targets in multi-project and multi-team setup.

Requirements:

• Senior level competence in software development in off-road machines, industrial control systems or other relevant field.
• Strong Linux and C++ competence, Qt and machine control knowledge are beneficial.
• Strong communication and co-operation skills both in Tampere and other UGDrills R&D sites.
• Fluent English, Finnish recommended, French beneficial.
• Systematic and analytical thinking, ability to plan for long term targets and act for short term targets
• Experience from teamwork and modern software engineering practices is essential.

Additional value comes from knowledge of our CI and GUI development tools: GIT, Gerrit, Jenkins, Google Repo, Robot Framework, Python, QML or Web-UI (Vue.js).
