Controls Engineering Intern responsible for supporting design, development, validation, and support of active magnetic bearing (AMB) control system software and firmware.

Responsibilities

· Design, develop, and validate new and updated embedded AMB control system software

o Design and implement software

o Code and debug

o Analyze system performance

o Integrate software with hardware

o Create documentation

o Support software quality assurance

Qualifications

· Education

o Required: Pursuing bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering. Rising Senior.

· Experience

o Coursework or projects involving embedded control system software development.

· Hard Skills / Knowledge (Preferred)

Development of application-optimized real-time closed-loop control systems including:

o Proficiency in C and C++ Programming

o Microcontrollers and Microprocessors

o Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)

o Hardware-Software Integration

o Debugging and Testing Techniques

o Embedded Software Design Patterns

o Communication Protocols: I2C, SPI, and UART

o Power Management

o Cybersecurity

o Assembly Language

Soft Skills / Knowledge

o Troubleshooting: able to investigate root causes and implement countermeasures

o Prioritization: able to select the next best action from among multiple competing priorities.

o Self-management: able to complete multiple, complex, interdisciplinary tasks with limited guidance.

o Communication: able to express ideas and share information clearly and efficiently across the full range of communication modes: in-person meetings, remote conferencing, email, chat, and documents.

o Third party relations: establishes good working relationships with customer and supplier representatives. Supports their technical needs while respecting the bounds of commercial agreements and resource limitations.
