Role: Strategy Director

Location: London, England, United Kingdom (3 days a week from our London Offices)

About the role:

We are seeking an ambitious, hands-on Strategy Director to work with one of the world’s largest drinks companies across their European portfolio, helping to transform their digital marketing to be more effective and exceed business goals. This role will suit someone who enjoys fast paced work and is adept at quickly getting to the heart of clients’ business challenges and opportunities. You’ll need strong experience in all aspects of digital marketing and be able to confidently play a key role in finding audience insights, developing smart channel thinking, delivering inspiring creative briefs and identifying optimisation opportunities across a range of channels. You will be well versed in the latest trends across Meta, YouTube, Pinterest and Snapchat, and will consistently bring best in class strategic recommendations to our teams for an improved social and customer experience. This role is for you if you’re passionate about creativity in digital marketing, on the pulse of social culture, highly audience focused and adept at putting meaningful data insight at the heart of your strategic recommendations. To be successful in this role, you’ll be a team player and a leader: able to define a direction and lead a team to deliver their best work. At IIG, we build agency teams to work in-house in partnership with brands. This role will be sitting within the digital teams we’ve created in London, working with a range of global-level clients and local markets across EMEA. We work within a hybrid set-up, which includes being present at the OLIVER office in Rosebery Avenue one day a week and at client HQ in central London one day a week.

What you will be doing:

  • Be a strategic driving force: defining and delivering business critical digital communication strategies as part of a cross-agency team across a broad European portfolio of brands. Must be able to confidently advise on audience insights, cultural trends and creative formats, write inspiring creative briefs and apply analytics learnings to optimisation opportunities.
  • Work in close partnership with the Executive Strategy Director, account leadership across markets and creative teams to identify and convert opportunities for growth (e.g., proactive strategic initiatives, thinkpieces and cross-regional collaborations).
  • Establish strong relationships with clients by helping them stay culturally connected to what matters to their audiences (advanced knowledge of audience profiling tools such as GWI and social listening tools is important).
  • Build out and optimise precision marketing campaigns, while connecting the dots across various data sources (paid social, ecom, D2C, CRM). Work with the analytics team to buildout learnings from these workstreams and support the UX Designer with strategic recommendations to improve how we service customers online.
  • Write briefs in partnership with the account team and ensure they’re collaborative and focus on delivering KPIs we set.
  • Help raise the bar of our strategic and creative output across the studio, ensuring our clients understand what the role and application of strategy should be across their briefs.
  • Work collaboratively with creative teams in identifying opportunities for ground-breaking creative output.
  • Plan campaigns and customer journeys in a methodical and data driven manner.
  • Sharing best practices and learnings with the global strategy team.
  • Build relationships across disciplines and geographies, and present to global teams and local markets on post-campaign analysis, digital transformation strategies and trends and culture.
  • You will be open and willing to attend sustainability training relevant to your role and soak up recommended research and reading about sustainability issues

What you need to be great in this role:

  • 7-10 years of experience in strategy and a strong generalist marketing skillset: someone who knows how to solve many of the brand and comms challenges that marketers face
  • A blend of creative and analytical problem-solving skills
  • A curious and proactive individual, able to easily step into briefing conversations and deliver a compelling point of view
  • Team player, with the ability to steer and shape a direction forward with senior stakeholders
  • Strong digital planning capabilities across social, campaigns and CRM
  • Someone who is not afraid to be brave and question the status quo in all agency meetings to propose social and digital first solutions
  • Excellent client engagement skills with the ability to proactively organise and influence clients and build strong and effective working relationships.
  • A thirst for constantly discovering new digital trends and popular culture.
  • Ability to understand analytics data and translate into actionable insights
  • Expert author of decks, proposals and think pieces
  • Wide range of client experience
  • Confident presenter and facilitator of workshops
  • Impeccable English, additional languages a bonus (especially German or Spanish)
  • You can be the change - you prioritise environmental responsibility, social equity, and economic viability and how that translates into your day-to-day rol
