The Data Architecture Senior Lead is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments in the field of enterprise data architecture/data engineering and contributes to the directional strategy by considering their applications in solving business needs of the banking industry. Candidates should have at least 15 years of experience, but a relevant master’s degree can serve as a substitute for some experience. Experience as a Database Administrator, Data Engineer, Data Manager or Data Scientist is preferred, though deep experience in development or programming in the data arena is also valuable. Selected candidate will be responsible for architecting state of the art data flows, integrations and infrastructure to extract and organize large volumes of enterprise data. Duties also include identifying Citigroup’s internal and external data sources, collaborating with multiple business units to determine their data storage, data governance and organizational needs and using the information to create and maintain data architecture. Excellent communication skills are required in order to negotiate internally and across teams, often at a senior level. Some external communication and vendor interactions may be necessary.



Responsibilities:

  • Provides architectural vision for all IT systems, including those that support Internet applications, ensuring that architecture conforms to enterprise blueprints.
  • Develops architecture, strategy, planning, and problem solving solutions on an enterprise level.
  • Interfaces across several channels, acting as a visionary to proactively assist in defining direction for future projects.
  • Maintains continuous awareness of business, technical, and infrastructure issues and acts as a sounding board or consultant to aid in the development of creative solutions.
  • Depending on project scope, may be accountable for end-to-end results including such items as: budgeting, policy formulation as well as providing future state technology strategies for an effort.
  • Interfaces with vendors to assess their technology and to guide their product roadmap based on Citi requirements.
  • Exhibits in-depth knowledge of how own specialism contributes to the business and has a good understanding of the commercial environment.
  • Provides thought leadership in subjects that are key to the business.
  • Requires sophisticated analytical thought to resolve issues in a variety of complex situations.
  • Impacts the technology function through contribution to technical direction and strategic decisions.
  • Uses developed communication skills to negotiate and often at higher levels.

  • Strong communication and diplomacy skills to guide, influence and persuade key stake holders and colleagues.

  • Prior experience working with complex data ecosystems and ability to identify areas for improvement in current data systems.

  • Working knowledge of various database systems and messaging systems
  • Hands on architectural experience with data warehouses, lakes & lakehouses
  • Experience in effectively managing teams spread across geographies and time zones is critical
  • Ability to distinguish and operate on design approaches for both long and medium term efforts
  • Experience with data fabric or data mesh a plus
  • Experience with Kafka, Hadoop ecosystems and Spark a plus
  • Working knowledge of drafting and implementing data governance policies and procedures a plus

  • Executes the architectural vision for all data systems through major, complex IT architecture projects; ensures that architecture conforms to enterprise blueprints.
  • Develops technology road maps, while keeping up with emerging technologies, and recommends business directions based on these technologies.
  • Possess a strong sense of visual design to present proposed solution design across teams and senior management
  • Provides technical leadership and takes responsibility for developing components of the overall systems design.
  • Consults with business clients to identify system functional specifications. Applies comprehensive understanding of how multiple areas collectively integrate to contribute towards achieving business goals and propose appropriate solution architecture
  • Translates complex business problems into sound technical solutions.
  • Applies hardware engineering and software design principles in researching, designing, and developing product hardware and software interfaces.
  • Provides integrated systems planning and recommends innovative technologies that will enhance the current system.
  • Acts as an advisor & mentor to junior team members.
  • Requires sophisticated analytical thought to resolve issues in a variety of complex situations.
  • Impacts the architecture function by influencing decisions through advice, counsel or facilitating services.
  • Guides, influences and persuades others with developed communication and diplomacy skills.
  • Performs other job duties and functions as assigned.
  • Formulates and defines architectural scope and goals for complex projects through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry standards
  • Exhibits sound and comprehensive communication and diplomacy skills to exchange complex information.
  • Develop strategies to reduce costs, manage risk, and enhance services
  • Performs other duties and functions as assigned.
