Production Operations Automation and Tooling Technical Lead

 

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced technical lead to join our Operations team and spearhead our tooling and automation journey within our Network and Infrastructure Operations functions.  The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, a passion for automation, and a proven track record of successfully implementing DevOps practices.  This role will be instrumental in defining the vision and strategy for our automation transformation, driving innovation, and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

 

 

Responsibilities:

• Define and Implement Automation and Tooling Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive automation strategy that aligns with our business objectives and drives automation across the software development lifecycle.
• Tooling Selection and Implementation: Evaluate, select, and implement appropriate automation tools and technologies to support continuous integration, continuous delivery, and infrastructure automation, leveraging existing solutions as appropriate.
• Automation and Orchestration: Design and implement automation solutions for build, test, deployment, and infrastructure management processes.  Orchestrate complex workflows and deployments using appropriate tools, solutioning for and leveraging the AI capabilities provided by enterprise tools.
• Monitoring and Logging: Implement robust monitoring and logging solutions with service reliability SLI, SLO and Error Budget in alignment with best practice.
• Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing: Foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team and across other departments.  Mentor and guide team members on DevOps best practices.
• Continuous Improvement:  Continuously evaluate and improve automation processes and tools to enhance efficiency, reliability, and performance.

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in an operations and automation engineering role.
• Strong understanding and proven experience of DevOps principles and practices.
• Experience with a wide range of Automation and DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible).
• Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash).
• Excellent communication, collaboration and leadership skills.
