Job Summary:

As a Senior Sales Support Consultant, you will support Caterpillar Resource Industries Operations & Products Electrification team by contributing to the development of simulation and analysis tools for electrified mines and using these tools to compare alternatives for product development decisions and overall industry understanding. What you will do:

The key role of this staff assignment is that of an individual contributor who is an established expert in mining operations and economics. The role supports development of modeling tools to prepare customers for fleet decarbonization. The key activities for this role are:


• Provide requirements related to mining operations and economics for the simulation development team to build into the software.
• Actively coordinate/manage the relationship with 3rd parties involved in the development of simulation tools for electrification.
• Validate software features across a wide range of conditions.
• Use the software and other analysis techniques to answer product development and industry questions related to optimal electrified mining.
• Perform site simulation to determine site-level power requirements.
• Perform site-level total cost of ownership (TCO) estimations to optimize electrified machines and infrastructure vs. current technologies.
• Support electrification product development programs with voice-of-customer collection, functional requirements, cost targets, and commercial strategies.
• Work with internal partners to understand advancements in decarbonization technologies and their effect on Caterpillar and customer economics.

Key accountabilities may include:
Defining requirements for simulation development, specifically economic modeling and time usage modeling, and coordinating a relationship with a 3rd party supporting the software development. Electrification site simulation and analysis, total cost of ownership analysis, training, competitive analysis, and supporting product development programs.

This position is acting as a product and commercial support expert with a key focus on Resource Industries Electrification products. The role may include consulting with product groups, dealers, and customers in developing decarbonization pathways and recommending solutions designed to maximize product value and price. This position is a key contact for business units and product groups.

Degree and Experience Requirement:
This position requires an engineering degree or equivalent experience.

• Assesses and validates decision options and points and predicts their potential impact.
• Advises others in analyzing and synthesizing relevant data and assessing alternatives..
• Ensures that assumptions and received wisdom are objectively analyzed in decisions.

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
• Adapts documents and presentations for the intended audience.
• Communicates well downward, upward, and outward.
• Maintains focus on the topic at hand.

Top Candidates will also have:
• Degree in Mining Engineering.
• Experience in Mining.
• Experience with Fleet / Machine Performance tools.
• Experience with cost modeling tools.
• Experience in Electrification fields.

Additional Information:

The primary location for this position is Tucson, AZ or Mossville, IL
