Job Description

Role Overview:

Strategic Data Governance Leader with proven expertise in establishing and enforcing data management frameworks, policies, and standards. Skilled in driving data quality, compliance, and security across complex organizations. Adept at leading cross-functional teams, aligning governance initiatives with business objectives, and enabling trusted, well-structured data for analytics and decision-making. Recognized for fostering a culture of accountability and ensuring data serves as a reliable asset for innovation and growth.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or IT leadership.
  • Proven track record in implementing data governance programs in complex, global environments.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, data privacy, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience in the automotive or manufacturing sector is a plus.
  • Certifications such as CDMP, DGSP, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with data governance platforms and metadata management tools.
  • Ability to influence and lead change across diverse teams and cultures.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement enterprise-wide data governance frameworks and policies.
  • Define data ownership and stewardship roles across departments and geographies.
  • Establish and enforce standards for data quality, metadata, master data, and data lifecycle management.
  • Lead data governance councils and facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ensure compliance with global data regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and industry-specific standards.
  • Promote data literacy and stewardship through training and change management initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on data governance KPIs, maturity models, and audit readiness.
  • Evaluate and deploy data governance tools (e.g., DataHub, Collibra, Informatica) to support governance activities.
  • Benchmark data engineering and analytics work areas with a focus to evaluate and improve the data practices across the organization.
  • Ensure data integrity, compliance, and strategic alignment across the organization.
  • Bridge technical execution with business oversight to drive trustworthy, secure, and valuable data use.
  • Compare Against Industry Standards Using external benchmarks from industry bodies (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK, Gartner, Atlan).
