Job Description Summary

Performs radiographic procedures at a technical level requiring a sound understanding of anatomical positioning and physiology, a high degree of technical competency, and the ability to act with initiative and ingenuity with a minimum of supervision. Apply ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis in adult and/or pediatric radiology. Other duties as deemed necessary.
Requirements (Education, Work Experience, Licensure, Registry &/or Certifications)

Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Licensed by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA)
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
Must obtain ARRT Radiology Registration within 6 months of hire date.

Job Description

  • A technologist utilizes RIS and PACS systems to complete clerical and administrative functions

  • Maintains continuing education through regular in-service education, participates in staff meetings, completes annual departmental competencies, and establishes appropriate work assignments to assure optimum utilization of human and material resources.

  • Performs high-quality diagnostic radiology examinations for the physician’s interpretation; prepares and administers various contrast agents under the supervision of a physician

  • Practices sterile technique when applicable and universal precautions during procedures/ exams.

  • Monitors any staff and/or student activities during clinical assignments from the technologist’s perspective.

Additional Job Description

Education: Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology. Experience: Zero to two years of modality specific work experience.   Registration/Certification: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 6 months of hire. Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA  recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
