Director of Sales
Location: Long Island
Reports to: VP of Sales & Marketing
Pay: $190,000 Base Salary
Position Overview
The Director of Sales will be the strategic architect and high-energy leader responsible for scaling our residential sales division across all markets. Reporting directly to executive leadership, you will bridge the gap between high-level strategy and daily field execution, ensuring branches operate with precision, accountability, and a growth-oriented culture.
Your mission is to transform our sales operations by building a high-performance culture rooted in clear expectations and consistent coaching. You will lead a team of full-time residential representatives, manage a strategic third-party door-knocking partnership, and foster a seamless "one team" alliance with our operations department. From developing the definitive Residential Sales Playbook to designing individual growth plans, you will be the driving force behind our brand’s expansion and revenue success.
Essential Job Functions and Duties
- Residential Sales Team - align the entire outside residential team around clear daily expectations and accountability. Strengthen the footprint of both Oakdale and Southampton branches with full-time residential sales representatives who will drive activity and revenue growth in those areas. Implement daily check-in and check-out process to stay consistent with inspections, proposals, and sales activity. Reinforce key skills weekly including building value, bundling services, and handling customer concerns confidently. All outside residential sales representatives shall report directly to Director of Sales for clear communication, consistent coaching, and better visibility. Use dashboards to track performance with the CRM, celebrate top performers, and provide support where needed.
- Long Island Market Growth Strategy - launch a door-knock campaign through a third-party partner to generate activity and awareness in key Long Island neighborhoods. Hire and train four full-time Long Island sales representatives focused on inspections, proposals, and upgrades. Third party team will generate warm leads, sell one-time and contract pest control services that operations will service. Full time outside residential sales representatives will follow up with customers, schedule inspections and upgrade them with bundle(s) or recurring residential programs. Build a sustainable local footprint that increases brand awareness and long-term market growth.
- Sales Meetings and Communication - schedule weekly meetings to review performance, recognize top performers, and share successes in the field. Schedule in-person one on one meetings & ride-along days to review results, align strategy, maintain team connection and culture. All meetings focused on positivity, accountability, and team success.
- Residential Sales Playbook Development - create a comprehensive “Residential Sales Playbook” that defines what “great” looks like at every stage of the sales process. Develop a defined sales process from first customer contact to closing the sale and collecting referrals. Include real examples, scripts, and visuals in both digital and printed versions. Provide an easy reference guide that helps representatives stay consistent, confident, and focused on delivering high-productive results.
- Technician Lead Program, Partnership with Operations - strong collaboration between Sales and Operations through the Technician Lead Program. Set clear expectations for identifying and passing along lead opportunities from technicians to sales representatives. Emphasize a customer service mindset so technicians feel comfortable having brief conversations about potential needs. Hold a monthly joint call with Sales and Operations to align expectations, share wins, and refine the process.
- Develop Individual Business (IBP) and Sales Plans (ISP) with each residential outside sales representative to design sales, pipeline and personal goals for the year.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly performance reviews with each sales representative to review their Individual Business Plans (IBP) & Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to determine where improvement is needed and the areas where each exceled.
- Create monthly, quarterly and annual sales plans. Update monthly and quarterly sales reports that detail recurring (PV), special services/1x, SMART, year-on year and sales plan metrics.
- Interview candidates for residential sales roles.
Experience, Education, and Skills Required
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Management, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Minimum of 7–10 years in sales, with at least 3–5 years in a management or director-level role, preferably within the home services or pest control industry.
- Proven track record of scaling revenue in specific territories (experience with the Long Island/New York market is a significant plus).
- Experience managing internal sales teams alongside third-party lead generation partners or door-to-door (D2D) campaigns.
- Demonstrated success in collaborating with Operations or Technical teams.
- Advanced proficiency in using CRM systems (like Salesforce, HubSpot, or industry-specific software) to build dashboards, track KPIs, and audit daily sales activity.
- A "player-coach" mentality with the ability to conduct effective ride-alongs, provide constructive feedback, and lead weekly high-energy sales meetings.
- Strong writing skills to develop a Residential Sales Playbook, including scripts, visuals, and standardized workflows.
- Expert at implementing "check-in/check-out" systems and holding a team to high standards of consistency and professionalism.
