12Position Title: Associate Director, Product Maintenance (Product Data Management)
The MI Commercial Data team champions data integrity and governance, delivering timely and trusted commercial data. Our mission is to equip revenue teams with insights that improve forecasting, pipeline health, and customer engagement throughout the revenue lifecycle. The Product Maintenance function is a specialized shared service focused on master data management, governance best practices, product taxonomy, quote-to-cash workflows (Salesforce Revenue Cloud/CPQ), and system functionality. We partner with Product Management, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Legal, Sales Operations, Order Management, and Commissions/Quota to define product structures and ensure product-related data is set up correctly to support reporting and functional processes.
The Associate Director, Product Maintenance will own the end-to-end governance, accuracy, and lifecycle of product master data in Salesforce and connected systems. This role ensures compliant, high-quality data across opportunities, quotes, agreements, orders, and invoices by overseeing controls (including SOX), stakeholder approvals, and systemic changes. The leader will drive catalog simplification, reduce defect rates, improve lead times, and increase audit pass rates—directly impacting revenue recognition, customer experience, and operational efficiency. This role will also be a key partner to Commissions and Quota teams, ensuring that downstream incentive systems (e.g., Incent/Xactly) receive accurate and timely product and attribution data to support compensation and quota management.
• Opportunity to lead high-impact initiatives that underpin quote-to-cash performance.
• Cross-functional collaboration with Product, Finance, Tax, Legal, Sales Ops, Technology, and Commissions/Quota.
• Ownership of enterprise controls and process excellence across regions and divisions.
• Exposure to complex CPQ architectures and the chance to drive meaningful system enhancements.
• Professional growth with people leadership, stakeholder influence, and transformation delivery.
• Governance & Controls: Own product data SOX controls; conduct quarterly testing and remediation. Serve as gatekeeper to prevent data issues and uphold governance policies.
• Central Intake & Approvals: Manage SharePoint intake, Product Maintenance Forms (PMF), request queues, and document retention. Coordinate official sign-offs from Finance, Product, Tax, Legal, Sales, and other stakeholders.
• Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee product creation, updates, end-of-life planning, and systemic replacement mapping. Maintain hierarchies and attributes for reporting and functionality.
• Pricing & Conditions: Govern complex pricing engines (CPQ conditions), commissions, revenue share, transfer pricing, and sales extensions in alignment with Finance.
• Architecture & Enhancements: Lead requirements gathering, solution architecture, and enhancement testing to streamline processes (e.g., automated product replacement, package options).
• M&A / Data Migration (ETL): Lead product master data migration for acquisitions/divestitures; drive cleansing, mapping, conversion, and knowledge transfer.
• Quality Assurance & Reporting: Establish KPIs/SLAs for lead time, defect rates, and catalog accuracy. Build dashboards on intake queues for trend analysis and resource planning.
• Stakeholder Training & Communications: Standardize templates for announcements (new/changed products, financial realignments). Provide training on request submissions and best practices.
• Cross-System Stewardship: Ensure data integrity across Product2, Product Lookup Attribution (PLA), Product Options, Features, and Configuration Attributes in Salesforce CPQ.
• Downstream Incentive System Support: Collaborate closely with Commissions and Quota teams to ensure product and pricing/attribution data quality and integrity for downstream incentive systems (e.g., Incent/Xactly), supporting accurate compensation and quota management.
• People Leadership: Lead and mentor a team (GL8s and SMEs), set priorities, manage capacity, develop talent, and foster a culture of excellence and compliance.
A seasoned data leader with deep experience in product master data and Salesforce Revenue Cloud/CPQ, who can translate business needs into governed, scalable data models. The ideal candidate combines strategic thought leadership with hands-on execution, excels at stakeholder management across Finance, Tax, Legal, Product, Sales Ops, Order Management, and Commissions/Quota, and has a track record of building high-performing teams in regulated environments. They bring demonstrated expertise ensuring downstream incentive systems (e.g., Incent/Xactly) receive accurate and timely product data, enabling compensation and quota management with high fidelity. This leader is outcomes-oriented, continuously improves controls and processes, and mentors teams to deliver measurable gains in catalog integrity, audit readiness, and quote-to-cash performance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
• 8–12+ years in data management, product master data, or CRM/CPQ domains; 4+ years leading teams or programs.
• Deep expertise in Salesforce CPQ objects and workflows: Product2, Product Lookup Attributions (PLAs), Product Options, Features, and Configuration Attributes.
• Proven experience supporting downstream incentive/compensation systems (e.g., Incent/Xactly), with strong collaboration history with Commissions and Quota teams to ensure correct product, pricing, and attribution data flows.
• Demonstrated ownership of SOX or similar controls, including quarterly testing, remediation, and audit preparation.
• Strong data quality background: KPI/SLA definition, defect reduction, catalog simplification, and dashboarding on intake/queues.
• Technical fluency: Excel (advanced), working knowledge of SQL/SOQL, familiarity with ETL and data conversion for M&A/divestitures.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder influence skills; adept at orchestrating cross-functional approvals across Finance, Tax, Legal, Product, Sales Ops, and Order Management.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments; track record of delivering system/process enhancements in CPQ.
• Hands-on experience configuring or validating compensation crediting rules and quota attribution data models between Salesforce CPQ and Incent/Xactly.
• Background in pricing condition governance (billing type/frequency, revenue recognition rules) and catalog simplification.
• Experience designing SharePoint-based intake workflows, request tracking, and document retention for auditability.
