To assist the Managing Director of Underwriting Performance and Actuarial, working closely with the relevant Underwriting teams and other business functions in respect of the managing and provisioning of actuarial pricing and business planning activities, as well as portfolio monitoring (including development of tools), portfolio optimization, and marketing of products. This position manages junior level actuarial staff.

Pricing and Business Planning

  • Implement and develop project plans for the recalibration and documentation of pricing models used by Ambridge’s underwriting business units
  • Conduct actuarial large risk reviews in accordance with the Ambridge Underwriting Guidelines.
  • To assist with the input, analysis and justification to support robust challenge of the business plans for the division and assist with the documentation of the Ambridge view of the plan.

Portfolio monitoring and optimization

  • Complete detailed profitability reviews and segmentation analysis on relevant classes to identify areas of outperformance/underperformance.
  • Analyze classes of business identified for targeted review, focusing on the key areas and producing draft documentation and presentation of the results.
  • Develop reports intended to provide key business insights to the Underwriting teams, including Key Performance Indicators, comparisons to plan, leading performance indications and comparisons to relevant benchmark information

Marketing of products

  • To assist Ambridge Leadership with obtaining capacity to write business by providing robust data submission packs, presentations on book performance, and supporting analysis
  • To represent Ambridge and the Ambridge brand by attending renewal meetings or meetings with capacity partners with the utmost professionalism

Management of junior staff

  • To manage the activities and development of junior staff members
  • Ensure a positive, collaborative culture within the Actuarial function
