This role is responsible for leading the UX strategy and design process for a portfolio of Knowledge System Products in the CMC part of the business using AGILE design methodologies to identify workflows, pain points and behaviours that will facilitate recognition and realization of high-value opportunities to improve Value from Use Cases. 

The primary purpose of this role is to develop and maintain design guidelines, best practices and standards aligned to the rest of GSC tech and CMC solutions. This role will be responsible for leading UX engagements for use cases as well as guiding other UX team members that are part of the wider CMC Knowledge System squads in their own UX engagements. This includes creating a design repository and managing the reusable assets for CMC and the rest of the organization to reuse as necessary. You will work closely with senior Product Management, business representatives and other Tech & Data experts to design the strategy to ensure the products meet the business requirements.

A candidate must provide a portfolio that demonstrates their design process, highlights leadership skills, and features UX best practices. Experience working on business customer-facing projects or delivering enterprise software is highly preferred. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards

  • Lead user research in an agile environment utilizing methods like user/design research, interviews and workshops to understand manufacturing and scientific workflows, pain points and behaviors by working with scientists and product managers to develop user-friendly and robust user experiences.  

  • Lead the UX strategy and design process, responsible for the concept ideation, wireframes, prototypes, design sprints that address the specific needs of key personas.  

  • Oversee product design roadmap and design sprint(s). Lead the validation of product concept effectively by developing prototypes and interactive mockups with scientific customers and engineers.  

  • Collaborate with product managers to define requirements, prioritize features, and iterate design solutions. 

  • Engage with users effectively, applying strategic thinking and user-centered methodology to communicate the value of key solutions

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Interaction Design or related field, or equivalent practical experience

  • 10 to 14years of overall experience

  • >7 years of experience in digital design roles, demonstrated through your portfolio of innovative designs

  • Experience aligning UX/UI designers, researchers, product managers, technologists and business stakeholders around the user’s needs and behaviors

  • Experiencing leading the UX strategy and design process

  • Ability to conceptualize quickly, present and reason in-progress work for critique to various stakeholders

  • Ability to establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards

  • Experience synthesizing user research and evaluating user feedback  

  • Ability to communicate design through a meaningful narrative with great presentation skills

  • Demonstrated ability to create wireframes and high-fidelity designs using tools such as Sketch and Invision  

  • Demonstrated understanding of best practices in typography and visual communication

  • Comfortable working as part of a global team, as well as working independently and taking ownership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in complex platforms, using UX design as a tool to direct product strategy, pharma or biotech experience are preferred. 

  • Adaptive to ambiguity and willing to change in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong understanding of leveraging quantitative data to inform product and design decisions. 

  • Experience collaborating closely with scientific and engineering teams. 

  • Familiar with agile/scrum methodologies 

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to present design concepts with product managers, engineers, stakeholders, and customers.
