Job Summary:

Caterpillar’s Lafayette Order to Delivery Rotational Program (LORP) is a three-year rotational program designed to accelerate development of entry-level talent and provide a solid foundation for meeting challenges within the large engine business. Being part of the LORP team offers you a broad exposure to Caterpillar’s large engine business, presents diverse project responsibilities, engages you in a global team, provides cross-functional job experiences and includes valuable networking opportunities with all levels of Caterpillar leadership. This program provides the foundation for future success of Caterpillar Lafayette’s large engine business leaders.

After successful completion of the three-year program, professionals are placed into permanent positions within the Lafayette Large Engine Center at Caterpillar Inc that continues to demand technical and leadership excellence gained through the program.

What You Will Do:

Professionals within the program will complete three 12-month rotations, which are defined based on business needs. All rotations are located in Lafayette, Indiana. You’ll join a team with diverse project responsibilities and have experiences including (but not limited to):

  • Manufacturing Engineering: Responsible and accountable for enhancements and modifications to equipment and processes in our facilities, monitoring equipment and process reliability, identifying and addressing problem areas and providing engineering support on equipment, processes, or facilities
  • Operations Supervisor: Responsible and accountable for the activities of a product or logistics line/area while supervising and directing the daily activities of workers, ensuring coordination between different teams, ensuring their safety and monitoring their performance.
  • Supply Chain Professional: Analyzes and maintains assigned processes that produce output excellence, builds expertise for the assigned process area, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts. Leads project management of process improvement, process development, and process execution for Supply Chain teams.

  • Fundamental understanding of business process designs, engineering for a manufacturing environment, supplier relationship management concepts, and logistics and supply chain management 
  • Organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ability to quickly gain and effectively apply new skills & knowledge 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Participate in and build on our inclusive, constructive, and productive work environment  
  • Ensure all team member’s contributions are recognized and values

Degree Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing/other relevant Engineering or Technology degree

Other Requirements:

  • Minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.8/4.0 scale (no rounding) at current institution.
  • Expected graduation date by May 2025

 Top candidates will also have:

  • Leadership involvement in campus outreach, community service and/or extracurricular activities
  • Previous business or technical internship/co-op or relevant experience
