POSITION: Concessions Manager 

DEPARTMENT: Food & Beverage Services 

REPORTS TO: Senior Operations Manager 

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

The Broward County Convention Center is undergoing an exciting time of change and growth with new shows booking and a +$1bn expansion nearing completion in 2025 – this includes a new HQ Hotel, currently the largest ballroom in SE USA, multiple meetings rooms, exhibition hall and a brand-new kitchen leading to a total 1.2 m sqft (under roof) of LEED Gold-certified space across the campus. 

 

The Savor F&B team has a need for a dynamic and experienced Concessions Manager. The Manager will be responsible for managing concessions operations in the facility. 

 

Essential duties and responsibilities  

  • Supervises the concessions employees in the preparation and service of food and refreshments, as well as clean-up. 

  • Assists in the training of concessions employees engaged in the preparing. and cooking foods to ensure high quality, efficient and profitable food service. 

  • Purchases refreshments, according to anticipated demand and familiarity with public taste in food and beverages. 

  • Directs storage, preparation, and serving of refreshments by other workers at refreshment stand or circulating throughout audience. 

  • Assigns concessions workers to locations. 

  • Tabulates receipts and balances accounts. 

  • Inventories supplies on hand at end of each day or other designated period. 

  • Works within guidelines for food and labor costs. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Education and/or Experience           

  • Associate’s degree. 

  • One to two plus years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. 

  • Previous management experience in a similar venue 

Skills and Abilities 

  • Strong orientation to customer service and ability to collaborate with other staff members in the facility. 

  • Demonstrated ability to control costs, generate increased revenue and manage accounts payable/receivable and financial reporting. 

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills Results oriented individual with the ability to meet required budgetary goals. 

  • Excellent organizational, planning, communication, and inter-personal skills. 

  • Ability to train workers in preparation and cooking of foods to ensure high quality, efficient and profitable food service. 

  • Communicates efficiently and effectively. (Bilingual – English/Spanish – a plus) 

  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office. 

Supervisory Responsibilities     

  • Oversees supervision of hourly staff. 

  • Helps to develop and implement appropriate SOPs and training programs. 

  • Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ASM GLOBAL's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Working Conditions 

  • Works throughout the building. Subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight. 

  •  Substantial walking and manual dexterity to operate equipment is required.
