What is the opportunity?

To lead and coach a dynamic team of Commercial Banking sales professionals responsible for acquiring, and deepening client relationships, maximizing return on total investments across your geographical area.  As a One RBC leader, you ensure sustainable business growth in a portfolio of target business and corporate clients with borrowing needs in the Commercial market segment, always delivering an exceptional client experience, understanding the needs and anticipating what is important for our clients and adapting to how clients choose to interact with RBC.   You drive revenue expansion portfolio quality, talent development, and strategic market positioning while ensuring disciplined execution and client centric delivery, building as high-performance culture with sound credit and operational risk management.

What will you do?

  • Be a ONE RBC leader and integrator responsible for providing exceptional client experience, delivering superior business and financial advice adding value to our clients that meet and exceed the needs of targeted Commercial Banking clients.
  • Lead and coach a team of relationship managers across Commercial Banking client segments responsible for contributing to overall volume and revenue growth by presenting solutions that directly address the client’s banking & financial needs inclusive of credit structuring through deep discovery and learning about the client’s business operations demonstrating an understanding of the client’s industry.
  • Create, execute and monitor strategic sales and service activities that achieve results to mandate and performance goals with relevant documentation in the performance management reporting system
  • Execute Practice Management routines weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually to keep track of progress, documenting what is going well, what needs to be done differently and what help is needed to close gaps and to meet and exceed performance goals Collaborate and coordinate with the various teams to leverage the expertise of RBC by identifying referral opportunities, making introductions together with appropriate referrals to RBC partners to develop and execute client contact strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to exhaust all options to fully and completely resolve client concerns, and contribute to an effective and efficient end to end fulfillment
  • Maintain high standards and ensure execution of portfolio quality management routines.
  • Champion digital enablement by becoming an advocate of the RBC Digital Banking applications and other self-serve and electronic banking solutions as Cash Management, Point of Sale and Ecommerce promoting the cash flow benefits of digital technology to the client and promoting regular usage through educating and guiding clients on how to use it.
  • You actively participate in community events and business development activities to expand your network and strengthen RBC reputation in the market.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • MBA, CFA or equivalent relevant Postgraduate or professional designation
  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in a sales environment inclusive of at least -5 years at a Sales Leadership level
  • Proven experience in commercial/corporate lending, syndicated deals and structured credit
  • Strong negotiations skills
  • Strong leadership skills and a champion for change
  • Growth mindset, continuous learner with a deep curiosity about enhancing the client experience, emotionally intelligent, decisive, and excellent judgment.
  • Strong observational coaching, people development and mentoring skills.

Nice-to-have 

  • Experience in complex financial structuring and advisory
