Job Title: Service Engineer
Salary: £57,700 - £72,000 depending on experience
Contract: Full time & permanent

The Opportunity:
Caterpillar is recruiting a Service Engineer to lead parts authorisation and readiness for Building Construction Products (BCP) New Product Introduction (NPI) programmes, alongside accelerated Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) activity. The role develops technical expertise in NPI parts processes, serviceability, and initial and regional stocking, working with global teams to meet approval‑to‑ship targets. It also supports process improvements to ensure parts availability for customer‑critical CPI projects.
What You Will Do
As a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Develop and maintain procedures and plans to support product quality, reviewing outcomes to identify functional gaps and drive corrective actions where required.
Review manufacturing and production processes to identify design or build issues, working with stakeholders to improve efficiency, quality, and repeatability.
Gather and assess internal and external feedback to identify opportunities to improve product serviceability and support continuous product improvement.
Produce clear technical specifications and work instructions, and track activities from concept through release to ensure quality, performance, and delivery targets are met.

Customer Focus: Maintains a strong customer focus by ensuring parts authorisation, serviceability, and stocking decisions support approval‑to‑ship targets and customer uptime. Uses feedback from the field and internal teams to drive improvements to parts availability and service readiness, aligned to NPI and CPI objectives.
Effective Communications: Communicates clearly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders, providing constructive feedback and sharing updates through reports and presentations as needed. Uses feedback to improve communication, adjusting style and level of technical detail to suit the audience and ensure alignment across teams.
Level Working Knowledge:
Relationship Management: Responds promptly and effectively to client and stakeholder requests, maintaining visibility of satisfaction levels and escalating concerns where needed. Works collaboratively to clarify roles and responsibilities and resolve critical issues, ensuring strong and productive working relationships.
Top Candidates Will Have:
NPI capability: Supports parts readiness and serviceability decisions to help programmes meet approval‑to‑ship targets.
CPI mindset: Identifies and addresses parts availability or service issues that impact customer uptime and field performance.
Digital working capability: Uses Microsoft 365 tools to manage information, collaborate with global teams, and track progress.
Learning and improvement focus: Builds subject‑matter expertise and helps drive consistent, efficient parts processes across teams and divisions.
