About the Role
The Senior Buyer is a hands-on, highly analytical problem-solver responsible for the procurement needs for the assigned categories and helping build and manage our supply network from our Nisku (EDM2) distribution center. This role is a key on-site procurement expert, driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, and the execution of purchasing strategy. You will ensure the on-time, in-full, and in-quality delivery of the assigned categories and help improve the supplier performance, act as the primary liaison between procurement and site operations, and use data to solve ambiguous problems and deliver measurable results
What you will be doing:
Advanced Procurement & Supply Chain
- Manage the procurement process and execution for the assigned categories, including placing daily/weekly POs and follow up, forecast demand requirements, manage inventory, and track consumption and carry-over, ensuring optimal cost, quality, and service to deliver the high quality and high value meals to our customers.
- Anticipate issues through daily review of demand and supply checks; investigate and resolve inventory challenges proactively before they impact production.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of weekly spending and cost reporting, proactively identifying and driving cost-saving and optimization opportunities.
- Actively prioritize and problem-solve time-sensitive issues in our supply chain, and proactively work cross-functionally to come up with a solution.
Strategy & Continuous Improvement
- Measure and evaluate performance of assigned categories and suppliers, identifying opportunities to improve KPIs, working together with Sourcing and suppliers.
- Lead initiatives to continuously improve supply chain processes (e.g., forecasting, ordering, safety stock) using data and analytical experience.
- Support the Purchasing Manager in strategic projects and execute Purchasing strategy.
- Maintain a strong ownership mindset, thinking beyond the scope of a given assignment to identify and drive improvements to the broader procurement function.
Site Operations & Communication
- Develop and maintain a strong line of communication with key stakeholders at the DC and serve as the primary on-site liaison for the day-to-day procurement related activities, working closely with Production, Warehousing, and Quality Teams to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Proactively collaborate with DC stakeholders to understand the challenges and opportunities and drive efficiency improvements together.
- Lead onboarding and training of new Procurement Operations team members
At a minimum, you have:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, supply chain or other relevant major. 2-4 years of progressive experience in the supply chain or procurement operations, preferably in CPG and manufacturing industries.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to effectively manage internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Strong collaboration skills, experience in working cross functionally.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented: you have well-honed strategies for never missing a deadline or overlooking a key detail, and are comfortable juggling multiple priorities at once under tight timeline.
- You are proactive and take ownership of your work and think beyond the scope of a given assignment.
- Learning never stops: you're innovative, extremely creative and constantly looking for ways to improve upon things.
- An intermediate level in Excel/Gsheets is required.
- Willing and able to work occasionally in a refrigerated environment (0°C to 4°C)
