Key Responsibilities:

• Leverages advanced analytical methodologies and technologies—including machine learning, deep learning, artificial intelligence, and graph‑based analytics—to mine and interpret large volumes of structured and unstructured data.

• Generates actionable insights, strategic recommendations, and decision‑support materials that enable business leaders to enhance performance and maintain competitive advantage. Also develops executive‑level PowerPoint presentations that clearly communicate analytical findings and business impacts to senior leadership and key stakeholders during periodic business reviews.

• Responds promptly to analytics requests from business partners and stakeholders, which may involve creating datasets, performing complex data analyses, developing automated solutions, and producing reports.

• Operates at a group- and enterprise‑wide level, serving as a specialist resource to senior leaders and key stakeholders.

• Applies deep expertise and creative problem‑solving to address unique or ambiguous situations and resolve complex, non‑routine challenges.

• Implements enhancements and process changes in response to evolving business needs, emerging risks, and shifting market or industry trends.

• Researches and evaluates emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies to develop innovative data and analytics solutions for business partners.

• Collaborates with data and analytics professionals and cross‑functional teams to optimize, refine, and scale analytical work into robust, enterprise‑ready solutions.

• Performs additional responsibilities or broader accountabilities as required.

Key Skills and Education:

  • Over 7 years of experience with Python and SQL, with strong proficiency in developing production‑grade machine learning, artificial intelligence, and agentic AI systems, preferably within financial services and banking.

  • Experienced in graph analytics and graph data modeling, with hands‑on expertise in Neo4j, the Cypher query language, and related graph technologies used to detect complex relationships, uncover hidden networks, and strengthen fraud detection capabilities.

  • Consulting and advisory expertise, with the ability to translate complex analytical concepts into practical business recommendations and guide stakeholders through data‑driven decision‑making and solution adoption.

  • Clear, concise communication skills, capable of tailoring complex technical content to diverse audiences and ensuring alignment across technical and business stakeholders.

  • Advanced PowerPoint and data‑visualization capabilities, with strong executive storytelling skills used to craft compelling presentations that influence senior leadership and communicate analytical insights effectively.

  • Highly tech‑savvy, with the ability to quickly learn and apply new tools, technologies, and methodologies to solve complex data challenges.

  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills, with the ability to approach ambiguous or novel situations creatively and effectively.

  • Effective collaboration and teamwork, with a focus on cross‑functional and cross‑group partnership to drive enterprise‑level outcomes.

  • Proven ability to operate in environments with high ambiguity, adapting to evolving priorities, emerging risks, and complex organizational needs.

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, or another quantitative discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Clear, concise communication skills, capable of tailoring complex technical content to diverse audiences and ensuring alignment across technical and business stakeholders.

  • Consulting/influencing skills: Ability to translate complex analytical concepts into practical business recommendations and guide stakeholders through data‑driven decision‑making and solution adoption

  • Proven ability to operate in environments with high ambiguity, self starter

Salary:

$103,200.00 - $192,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
