What success looks like in this role:

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Install, configure, and administer Linux servers (primarily Red Hat Enterprise Linux and derivatives). 

  • Manage and support VMware virtualization platforms, including VM provisioning, migration, and lifecycle management. 

  • Utilize Ansible to automate patching, configuration management, and routine administrative tasks. 

  • Administer and maintain Red Hat Satellite for patch management, subscription management, and compliance reporting. 

  • Perform OS patching and upgrades across RHEL, SUSE, and cloud-based Linux instances in AWS and GCP. 

  • Troubleshoot patching issues, including dependency conflicts, failed patch installations, and kernel-related problems.  

  • Proactively monitor system performance, resource utilization, and troubleshoot issues to resolution. 

  • Collaborate with internal teams to plan, schedule, and execute patching activities. 

  • Escalate critical infrastructure issues to NOC or vendor support when necessary. 

  • Document configurations, patching procedures, and troubleshooting steps for operational consistency. 

  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support business-critical systems as needed. 

 

 

Troubleshooting and Support: 

  • Diagnose and resolve complex Linux system and patching-related issues across on-premises and cloud platforms (AWS & GCP). 

  • Resolve common patching issues such as repository synchronization errors, failed Ansible playbook executions, or package version conflicts. 

  • Work closely with the operations and NOC teams to ensure timely resolution of incidents. 

  • Provide guidance and mentoring to team members on Linux system administration best practices. 

You will be successful in this role if you have:

Required Skills and Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration. 

  • Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere/ESXi environments. 

  • Proficiency in Ansible for automation and patching workflows. 

  • Experience with Red Hat Satellite or equivalent patch management tools. 

  • Experience patching and troubleshooting Linux workloads in AWS and GCP environments. 

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, particularly in patching and system performance issues. 

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (SCOM, Splunk, or equivalent). 

  • Understanding Linux security hardening, compliance, and patch management best practices. 

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
