The Core Engineering Tools Team is looking for a software engineer to be a lead contributor to the tools used to measure, analyze and design the technology that will form the building blocks for the next generation of groundbreaking wearable and out-loud Bose products. Our team promotes and deploys new technology so that it can be leveraged by the engineering community, as well as builds and maintains the critical software infrastructure that keeps the Consumer Electronics division humming.

The role will entail:

  • Creating measurement, analysis and design applications and user interfaces
  • Developing and supporting tools for DSP frameworks
  • Supporting measurement and rapid prototyping hardware platforms
  • Writing software testing and deployment pipelines
  • Authoring engaging documentation
  • Educating, supporting and collaborating with our users

Beyond software development expertise, candidates must have a solid background in audio signal processing and measurement. Practical experience with audio hardware is also highly desirable.

We are a dynamic team that has a broad reach, so candidates must enjoy working collaboratively, value team dynamics, and possess high level interpersonal skills. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.

Required skills and experience:

  • BS or MS in Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering
  • 5+ years of industry software development experience
  • Programming in Matlab & Python, including object-oriented design and writing well-documented & testable code
  • DSP concepts and frameworks
  • Experience with audio measurements and related tools (Audio Precision, Head Acoustics, etc.)
  • CICD including writing test suites and packaging code for distribution
  • Champion for code quality and standards
  • A passion for customer-valued interface design
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Track record of strong teamwork and collaboration on technical projects

Highly valued experience:

  • Experience in contributing to open-source projects
  • Hands on experience and/or interest in fields such as live sound production, home theater, automotive audio systems, audio recording and production, etc.
  • Familiarity and experience debugging audio hardware setups including amplifiers, speakers, microphones and signal routing
