Global Category Senior Manager - Software
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be responsible for efficient and effective ownership for all Software spend at Amgen. This role will represent Amgen’s ambition to best-in-class Global Category Management for one of our key global categories of spend. This leader will play a strategic role in business partnering with technology and business functions developing multi-year category plans that address business needs while achieving standard process outcomes; activating Procurement resources to drive strategic sourcing results to reduce costs and enable topline performance.
As a Global Category Senior Manager you will
Be Accountable for developing multi-year strategies that establish priorities and goals within Amgen for both business stakeholders and Procurement
Develop strategies that deliver measurable value beyond cost savings, emphasizing efficiency and long-term impact.
Highlight total cost of ownership (TCO) reduction, operational efficiencies, and risk management as key priorities.
Be a thought partner and actively challenge work, to deploy the most comprehensive and creative solutions; furthermore, removes barriers for the team to execute seamlessly.
Lead and influence customer groups with 'outside in thinking,’ articulating recommendations with quantifiable and predictable financial benefits
Demonstrate connected thinking and strategy beyond the category and task at hand with pull through in understanding how marketing services are used in Amgen.
Full accountability for Global Category Strategy, acting as an ambassador for the Procurement function and the key point of contact for the category
Be accountable for executive relationship management related to Software category strategy topics
Own supplier relationship development important to the category, including development of SRM capabilities where needed to enable category goals
Develop category goals and prioritize work among multiple initiatives
Partner with business owners on best-in-class supplier management program
Stay ahead of emerging software trends such as SaaS, cloud computing, and vendor consolidation
What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 2 years of Procurement experience; OR
Master’s degree and 4 years of Procurement experience; OR
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of Procurement experience; OR
Associate’s degree and 10 years of Procurement Accounting experience; OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Procurement experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Tenured Category Management expertise in software, with deep knowledge of internal / external factors impacting the category
Global Category Management with a consistent track record of executive business partnering leading change and enterprise activation of sourcing initiatives driven from expert knowledge of marketplace capabilities
Previous experience managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or advising the allocation of resources
Ability to thrive in environment of high uncertainty and constant change
Supplier Selection, Negotiation and/or Buying Outside Spend experience
Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
High financial acumen with integrated financial planning experience
Ability to take initiative and work with a minimum level of direction in a fast-paced environment
Ability to lead projects and work with cross-functional teams
Experience with Scout Sourcing or other e-Sourcing tools

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
