Job Description Summary:

Responsible for independently performing loan servicing quality control functions within the company. This includes routinely performing reviews of single family loan servicing activities and related transactions to ensure compliance with investor, agency, legal, regulatory requirements, state laws, Internal Revenue Code requirements, and Bank policy with limited supervision; and preparing and presenting effective written reports of quality control findings and other specialty loan programs to members of management. Contribute information to the Quality Control Supervisor or Manager in establishing goals and objectives. This includes strategic planning, review planning, resource allocation, and developing effective quality control programs.

Job Details:

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Independently conduct a wide range of loan servicing quality control reviews to determine the company’s compliance with investor and agency requirements, legal and regulatory requirements, and Bank policy.  This includes, but is not limited to: autonomously selecting the monthly QC sample; and a review of Servicing Records, Document retention and Legibility, Complaints and Escalated Actions, Fees, transfer of Servicing Notification and Records, Escrow Account Functions, Force-Placed Insurance, Prepayments, MIP/PMI Payments, Early Default Intervention, Loss Mitigation, Collection Activities, Reporting to Credit Repositories, Foreclosure Proceedings, Service Members Civil Relief Act (SCRA), and Payment Processing; and completion of a quality control checklist for each loan or activity reviewed to ensure compliance with established regulations and guidelines
  • Communicate with loan servicing personnel and other departments to obtain responses to findings noted during the review; independently, or in collaboration with QC Manager.
  • Provide for effective communication of review findings by entering findings into the QC software system, and preparing a reports on the results of a review.  These written reports are accurate, objective, clear, concise, constructive, and timely; and created independently.  These reports are presented and discussed with the QC Supervisor or Manager.
  • Provide consulting services in the areas of internal control standards and operational policies and procedures with management, where appropriate.
  • Assist in the review planning process.  This includes defining needed reviews and performing risk analysis in accordance with department procedure.  Assist in allocating available department resources to planned projects.
  • Assist in the department strategic planning process.  Work with the Quality Control Supervisor and/or Manager to develop and implement department strategic plans and action steps that support the corporate strategic plans.
  • Assist external reviewers on mutually agreed upon review procedures as assigned.
  • Assume or perform additional duties as they arise, cross train within the quality control section of the department and be responsive to the needs of the entire department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 4 years’ quality control or single family loan underwriting or loan servicing experience, both conventional and government loans.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills. Ability to handle confidential information with the highest level of discretion.
  • Proficient in basic Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to learn quickly, be accurate and timely in completing responsibilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to accept and facilitate change, whether indicated by corporate needs, market or regulatory requirements.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Able to operate a Personal Computer and view information on a monitor.
  • Must be able to sit for many hours each day.
  • Must be able to communicate via telephone and possess dexterity to include filing document, reaching and bending.
  • May be required to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 10 pounds
  • Ability to speak and understand English and express ideas and have difficult conversation in person and over the telephone
  • Ability to listen and comprehend speech.
  • Ability to problem solve, make decisions, interpret data and information, read, write and organize information in an orderly manner.
  • Willing and able to travel occasionally as needed.
