Job Summary

Manages the activities of technical and support staff who perform tasks related to the ordering, charging, auditing, inventory management, shortage planning, use, storing, distribution and control of drugs and other pharmaceutical products. Responsible for the regulatory components of medication distribution, medication charging, and 340b. Coordinate Human Resource activities. Ensures that the hospital formulary is followed to when applicable. Strong knowledge of pharmacy drug distribution systems, financial management, pharmaceutical inventory control systems, drug information system, quality assurance methods and regulations surrounding the pharmaceutical medication use cycle and procurement.

Essential Functions

  • Facilitates the training and continuing education of staff members. Provides direction and support to subordinate staff to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Establishes work standards. Selects, trains, develops, and evaluates subordinates and initiates personnel actions in accordance with departmental policies and organization philosophy.

  • Oversees, prepares and updates policies and procedures affecting the Pharmacy as assigned.

  • Manages the activities of technical and support staff who are engaged in ordering, compounding, preparing, storing, using and distributing (and the control of) drugs and other pharmaceutical products.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with external (wholesalers, clients) stakeholders to further grow and strengthen the pharmacy enterprise regulatory programs (340b, DSCSA, etc.). Maintains client specific pricing and provider information for charging compliance and pricing transparency. Analyzes and trends U&C claim activity. Works with Wholesaler, vendors, and partners to determine product availability. Establishes and tracks cost improvement strategies annually across the enterprise.

  • Uses various data streams, analyzes, and reports to leadership business results and trends specific to client billing, inventory replenishment, formulary and fee structure management.

  • Deploys new strategies and projects to improve financial and regulatory position of the pharmacy enterprise within the medication procurement process from PO to invoice.

  • Oversees deployment of inventory management solutions and controls in alignment with operational processes and finance team requirements.

  • Collaborates with corporate finance teams to ensure alignment on strategies at an enterprise level. Responsible for metrics and reporting out on results in alignment with enterprise goals.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent business, accounting, health administration, or related field
  • 5 years of relevant experience pharmacy systems, or analytics and operations
  • 2 years of relevant experience Working in a supervisory or managerial capacity

Preferred

  • Master's Degree business, health administration
  • Experience working in an organization of size and complexity comparable to Corewell Health
