Hired Vehicle Coordinator – Ashby de la Zouch

What will this role achieve?

This is a pivotal role at the heart of our logistics operation. As a key player in our team, you’ll be responsible for managing hauliers delivering to UK customers and coordinating with freight forwarders to arrange international shipments. You’ll also play a vital role in cost control by entering freight charges into SAP, supporting budget adherence across all regions.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need strong technical and communication skills, a solid understanding of supply chain operations, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments and functions. There will also be opportunities to contribute to wider projects as they arise—making this a dynamic and rewarding position for someone ready to make a difference.

What will be your key deliverables?

  • Allocate daily loads to hauliers to provide perfect service at best cost
  • Search and introduce new hauliers to the approved suppliers list with the support of line manager
  • Work with the Line Manager on negotiating competitive rates with hauliers for new lanes
  • Create Loading Schedules for various warehouse locations, manufacturing sites and any outside store locations to the agreed parameters.
  • Collate and issue critical metric reports including but not limited to; UK delivery costs, UK haulier performance,
  • Enter cost documents in SAP for all UK loads
  • Manage service issues with haulier group
  • Lead service reviews involving various levels of haulier management.
  • Develop and provide KPI’s to measure cost v budget.
  • Contribute to savings plans with new initiative / ideas

Bring your experience.

Essential

  • Proven systems experience in SAP, Excel, Smartsheet, Assist 4
  • Distribution / Logistics management
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Proficient in Transport planning

Desirable

  • Systems experience in Smartsheet, Assist 4 & Microlise is preferable
  • Previous experience in organisational change
  • Financial reporting
  • KPI suite knowledge and understanding
  • International Sales
