Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Company is seeking an Experienced Internal Merchandise Buyer to join their team. Boeing Stores Incorporated (BSI) is a fully integrated subsidiary of the Boeing Company, and a centralized experiential marketing function and Performance and Loss (P&L) operation that promotes the Boeing brand through strategic activations. This group leads multi-channel internal and global branded merchandise distribution and operation of Boeing’s brand home and public attraction, Boeing Future of Flight.

The Internal Merchandise Buyer is responsible for executing the merchandise strategy supporting enterprise branded merchandise needs. This includes, but is not limited to promotional, executive and apparel for recognition, sponsorship, employee engagement and customer events. As an integral part of our account management team, this role will own the procurement, development and coordination of both reactive merchandise requests, and exclusive merchandise collections development. 

This position can be located in Mukilteo, WA; Seattle, WA; or Renton, WA.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the merchandise account management team to provide appropriate buying support to assist in existing and potential merchandise requests and opportunities.

  • Develop exclusive merchandise collections that align the internal merchandise strategy to support Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Sales, Customer Relations, and Marketing.

  • Collaborate cross functionally on pre-order and launch emails for BCA exclusive collections.

  • Coordinate custom projects and requests through the stages sourcing, quoting, development, production, shipping, and delivery.  

  • Prepare executive level sales proposals and presentations for custom branded merchandise requests such as delivery events, initiatives, executive gifting, team recognition and other gifting opportunities.   

  • Write Internal Sales purchase orders utilizing Counterpoint POS system.

  • Research new trends and product lines through competitive shopping, trade show attendance and use to influence and drive future collections and merchandise trends for business partners.

  • Analyze performance data and new trends to inform merchandise and sales teams.

  • Provide recommendations on ways to enhance internal merchandise resources and capabilities.

  • In partnership with account management team, engage with business partners to understand their merchandise needs / timelines as to enhance merchandise offerings.  

  • Research and monitor existing vendor base and industry developments and identify potential new product opportunities.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to leverage Boeing as a preferred customer, leading to more favorable pricing, exclusive offerings, and markdown and claims assistance.

  • Monitor vendor performance and ensure processes for doing business with the Boeing Store are followed. This includes trademark usage, sample processes, pre-ticketing, defective claims procedures, shipping requirements, and routing guidelines.

  • Provide the best price/value ratio possible, maintaining competitive pricing.

  • Analyze and understand markets, competitors, customers, and future trends.

  • Additional Merchandise Buyer support as assigned by Manager.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.  This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in the custom merchandise industry

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Experience as a retail merchandise buyer

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 6 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+4 years' related work experience, 10 years' related work experience, etc.).

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $76,500-$103,500
