We are looking for a Senior Creative Type Consultant in Shanghai, China, to help us drive our strategy within this growing and high-potential market. This role will have a wide range of responsibilities and will be instrumental in supporting and collaborating with our APAC sales team on growing revenue, building relationships, and acting as a trusted typographic advisor on behalf of the Company.

Responsibilities:

• Promote our expertise and typography at large as well as maintain and build our reputation for excellence in type with key clients, select agencies, and the overall creative industry.
• Participate in client presentations to explain typography decisions, technical specifications and font usage.
• Deliver presentations to customers, agencies or other industry events in the region
• Develop conceptual approaches and creative solutions through sketching, ideation, and visual exploration
• Work closely with foundry partners in the region
• Work closely with Sales Teams to translate client business and brand challenges into compelling creative briefs and account strategies.
• Collaborating with regional and global Leadership up to and including VP and SVP level
• Continuous development of knowledge about current font technologies, global scripts, and typographic practices
• Stay current with industry trends, tools, and standards in typography and font production
• Contribute to innovation initiatives by researching and recommending new typography technologies and approaches
• Contribute to our GenAI creative knowledge base, share your hands-on experience with AI tools and support us to build a growing repository of AI best practices
• Recognize and analyse local market trends in type design and make recommendations for strategic initiatives to satisfy customer needs and increase business
• Take an active role in building relationships and acting as a trusted advisor with our customers, within the type design community, agencies, freelancers, and universities
• Ongoing collaboration with the global creative team

What are we looking for:

• Ideally, you will hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in visual communication or type design
• Experience working in a creative or type design role
• Understanding of the Type market and customers’ needs in the APAC region.
• Established network of peers in the creative community
• Fluent in Mandarin & English.
• A strong type-led design portfolio showing high quality design skills and the necessary technical know-how.
• Knowledge of industry standard font editing tools, GlyphsApp is preferred, but knowledge of RoboFont or FontLab Studio will be considered
• Well-structured work methodology and capability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Editorial capabilities to write short articles or blog entries on typography.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to travel.
