Job Title: Solution Architect – Multi-Cloud DBaaS Platform (Azure / AWS /
GCP)
Location: Bangalore
Department: Customer Success
Reports To: VP Customer Success
Role Summary
We are looking for a Solution Architect to lead the architecture and
technical direction of our multi-cloud Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS)
platform spanning Azure, AWS, and GCP.
This role will drive system architecture strategy, ensure cross-team
technical alignment, and establish scalable, secure, and cloud-native
design principles for a globally distributed DBaaS product.
The architect will define cloud-agnostic patterns while leveraging cloud-
native capabilities across hyperscalers.
Core Mission
Drive cloud-native architecture strategy across Azure, AWS, and
GCP.
Ensure cross-functional technical alignment across product,
engineering, DevOps, security, and SRE.
Design scalable, multi-tenant, high-availability DBaaS systems.
Establish reusable patterns for automation, provisioning, and
lifecycle management.
Key Responsibilities
1️⃣ Multi-Cloud Architecture Strategy
Define and own the reference architecture for DBaaS across:
o Microsoft Azure
o Amazon Web Services
o Google Cloud Platform
Design control plane and data plane separation models.
Define cloud-agnostic abstractions for provisioning and lifecycle
management.
Architect multi-region, cross-cloud DR strategies.
Evaluate managed services vs self-managed deployment models.
2️⃣ DBaaS Platform Engineering Leadership
Design and govern architecture for:
Automated database provisioning & de-provisioning
Self-service portal & API-driven consumption
Auto-scaling and elastic capacity management
Backup, PITR, and cross-region disaster recovery
Observability & telemetry
Cost optimization (FinOps alignment)
3️⃣ Database & Engine Architecture
Architect and standardize DBaaS support for:
Managed services (RDS, Azure SQL, Cloud SQL equivalents)
Self-managed containerized databases on Kubernetes
Hybrid deployment models (Cloud + On-Prem)
Deep expertise expected in:
Oracle
PostgreSQL
MySQL
SQL Server
4️⃣ Cloud-Native Design & Automation
Lead Kubernetes-based orchestration strategies.
Define Infrastructure-as-Code standards (Terraform, ARM,
CloudFormation).
Architect GitOps-driven deployment pipelines.
Define CI/CD integration standards.
Implement API-first and microservices architecture patterns.
5️⃣ Scalability, Reliability & SRE Alignment
Define SLOs, SLAs, and error budgets.
Architect high-availability patterns per cloud.
Design failure isolation and blast-radius reduction strategies.
Ensure platform resilience under multi-tenant workloads.
6️⃣ Security & Compliance Architecture
Implement Zero-Trust architecture.
Architect IAM federation across Azure AD, AWS IAM, and GCP IAM.
Ensure encryption (KMS / Key Vault / Cloud KMS).
Design network isolation (VPC/VNet, private endpoints).
Support compliance frameworks (SOC2, ISO, GDPR).
7️⃣ Cross-Team Technical Governance
Lead Architecture Review Boards.
Standardize design documentation practices.
Align multiple engineering squads on shared cloud frameworks.
Reduce technical debt via architecture governance.
Required Experience
12+ years overall experience in distributed systems.
5+ years architecting cloud-native platforms.
Strong hands-on experience across at least two hyperscalers
(Azure/AWS/GCP).
Experience designing SaaS or PaaS platforms.
Strong database internals and HA/DR architecture knowledge.
Expertise in Kubernetes and container orchestration.
Preferred Experience
Experience building or modernizing DBaaS platforms.
Multi-cloud networking design (VPN, Peering, PrivateLink,
Interconnect).
Cost governance & FinOps modeling.
Experience with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana,
OpenTelemetry).
Cloud Architect certifications (Azure/AWS/GCP).
Technical Stack Exposure (Expected)
Kubernetes
Terraform
Helm
REST APIs
Service Mesh
Kafka / Event-driven architectures
CI/CD platforms
Monitoring & Logging frameworks
Leadership Competencies
Ability to influence across distributed engineering teams.
Strong systems thinking and long-term architectural vision.
Decision-making in ambiguity.
Executive-level communication capability.
Strong documentation and architectural governance mindset.
Success Metrics
Multi-cloud architecture standardization achieved.
Reduced provisioning time across clouds.
Improved HA/DR benchmarks.
Reduced cross-team rework.
Improved platform scalability under enterprise workloads.
