Job Posting:

The Store Manager provides leadership and direction to the store staff and successfully executes company strategies. The primary responsibilities of the Store Manager are to determine and maintain optimal staffing levels, recruit, hire, educate, and motivate a team of brand advocates who in turn inspire the customer. They are responsible for setting the example for customer engagement and selling for their team. They are responsible for maximizing store profitability by controlling expenses, protecting company assets, and by ensuring that store standards and processes for customer service, merchandising, operations, sustainability, and community participation are consistent and well-executed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales and Profitability:
    • Maximizes store sales and achieves store sales goals.
    • Measures and monitors sales progress and results against key targets.
    • Manages labor and payroll expenses to maximize sales and profitability.
  • Brand Experience/Customer Service:
    • Ensures excellence in customer service in the store by modeling brand specific service standards. monitoring customer feedback and responding to and addressing all customer concerns quickly.
    • Ensures that store team is engaging with each customer to create an authentic brand experience.
    • Builds brand awareness through engaging customer interactions.
    • Supports store marketing events and grows relationships in the community to generate brand awareness and drive traffic.
  • Training and Coaching Team:
    • Educates staff on product and assortment to enhance selling and customer engagement.
    • Identifies coaching-in-the-moment opportunities to maximize performance in all areas of the job.
    • Sets daily, monthly, and annual goals for all members of the team and provides relevant, timely information, coaching, and feedback that enables their success and growth.
    • Organizes and leads store staff meetings.
    • Partners with District Manager and Human Resources to set performance goals for team and holds quarterly assessment meetings.
  • Operations, Loss Prevention, and Safety:
    • Ensures compliance and adherence to policies and procedures, standards and practices, and company directives.
    • Creates and manages store schedules.
    • Responsible for achieving all financial and operational objectives including expense control, loss prevention, store audits, and weekly reports as required. Protects company assets. 
    • Participates in Loss Prevention Audits, reviews results, and creates a plan, if necessary, to meet district and company shrink goals.
    • Reacts quickly to all customer and associate injuries and partners with District Manager and Human Resources.
  • Visual Merchandising:
    • Ensures the visual merchandising standards for the store are met.
    • Implements floor-sets and merchandising directives.
    • Communicates with corporate partners regarding merchandise assortment, trends, and needs.
    • Responsible for ensuring that the store’s presentation integrity is maintained through proper placement procedures and by communicating concerns directly to the District Manager as needed.
  • Human Resource Management:
    • Attracts, recruits, hires, and retains high-performing associates that embody company values.  
    • Actively maintains a succession plan and pool of qualified candidates.
    • Responsible for communication and delivery of rewards and recognition programs for the store team. 
    • Addresses performance issues and administers progressive discipline in partnership with HR.
    • Oversees the annual performance appraisal process, evaluates staff, and ensures all staff members receive ongoing feedback regarding their performance.
    • Ensures compliance with associate record-keeping policies and procedures.
    • Ensures compliance with all HR/Payroll requirements according to established standards and practices including new hires, rehires, position changes, etc.
    • Maintains the Open-Door Policy.
  • Store Culture:

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years of retail sales experience.
  • Two years of management experience.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication, delegation, follow-up, and time-management skills.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and direct activities at all levels.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and focus on customer satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient computer skills including e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, and software programs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Operate office equipment and technology (i.e., computers, phones, copier, scanner, etc.).
  • Travel (less than 10%).
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business; will require weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Ability to stand during scheduled shifts.
  • Ability to maneuver and/or lift 25 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Bending, stooping, extended reaching, climbing ladders and step stools while placing merchandise throughout the store and assisting customers.
