What you will be doing:

The Senior DevOps Engineer serves as a bridge between development and IT operations, taking on operational tasks to ensure the efficient functioning of computer systems. This position is responsible for monitoring, automating, and improving the reliability, performance, and availability of software systems. This position works on tasks such as preventing incidents, managing infrastructure, building effective monitoring systems, and ensuring the smooth operation of computer systems.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Operations Automation & Reliability – 70%

  • Responsibility to have the right monitoring tools in place and react to alerts during 24/7 on-call shifts.

  • Work with business and technology teams to define availability measurements and reports that support meeting internal OLA’s and customer SLA’s.Focuses especially on building automation to reduce manual effort and prevent operations incidents.

  • Documentation of automations and monitors which may include training of cross functional team members.

  • Implement and enforce best practices for system security, performance, and reliability.

  • Lead operational health, maintenance, optimization, and security initiatives.

  • Coordinate with Software Engineers, Support, Infrastructure Engineers, and product teams to support end-to-end delivery of software components from inception to production

  • Manage and prioritize day to day workloads and support requests

  • Architect and design logging, metrics, and alerting tool chains

  • Provide expert level troubleshooting to support network, application, and service availability

  • Keeping systems patched and up to date

  • Continuously refine monitoring processes, configurations, and thresholds

  • Leads the collaboration with development and operations teams to discuss, analyze or resolve application issues or to assist with engineering projects

  • Contribute to planning efforts for disaster recovery, capacity expansion, component upgrading and system hardening

  • Work with engineering, product, support, and operations teams to increase the operational stability of the platform

  • Train and mentor more junior personnel

  • Monitor, analyze and troubleshoot problems within DevOps tools, network, storage and servers;

  • Increase automation and environment agnostic infrastructure while keeping an eye on new tools and techniques when possible.

Technical Operations Support – 20%

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams helping debug and troubleshooting (application and infrastructure) production performance issues.

  • Involved in multiple IT service management processes: Incident Management for solving incidents / Problem Management for root cause analysis / Release Management for release where involved / Configuration Management for keeping configurational data up-to-date / Change Management with participation in Change Advisory Board (CAB) when relevant

  • Participate in on-call responsibilities to support the availability of applications and services.

 Misc. – 10%

  • Lead assigned projects including project plan development and task execution.

Work Experience:

Years of Applicable Experience - 4 or more years

Education:

High School Diploma or GED (Required)




 

Preferred Qualifications

Skills:

  • Automation: Selenium, Robot, Playwright, SOAtest, Power Apps, REST API

  • Scripting/Languages: Python, Groovy, PowerShell, Bash, JSON, DAX

  • Data Analytics: Splunk, Power BI, SQL, PowerQuery

Experience:

  • An ideal candidate would exhibit behavioral traits that indicate excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills, strong communication, and analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Experience in software solution design and subsequent phases and technical operations automation.

  • Proven ability to lead technical projects from inception to delivery with quantifiable results.

Education:

  • Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Foundation Certification

  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification

  • CCNA

Working Conditions: Remote


 

Travel Requirements: Travel 1-20% within the US

Premier’s compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premier’s internal salary range for this role is $80,000 - $148,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
