The Senior Manager, Group Strategy is responsible for leading unique, high value and high impact strategic projects aligned to the Qantas Group strategic vision. This position plays a pivotal role in leading the team to form hypotheses, establish the problem-solving approach, structure complex research and analysis, and develop presentations and strategic recommendations for the Qantas Group CEO, Group Leadership Team and Board of Directors.

They key focus of this position will be to drive improved performance across the Qantas Group, and can involve working on strategic questions at the portfolio level or within a part of the business.

The breadth and depth of projects in Qantas Group Strategy will challenge you and provide you with rare and unique exposure to a wide array of business areas. You will have the satisfaction of seeing the end results of your work while influencing the strategic direction of one of Australia’s most renowned global brands.
 

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline
  • 10+ years’ experience at a major airline or a top-tier consulting firm (such as Bain, BCG, or McKinsey), investment bank, professional services firm, or within a corporate strategy team
  • Exceptionally strong skills in problem solving, thought leadership, strategic assessment, analytical acumen, stakeholder management, and written and verbal communication
  • A highly structured style and results-oriented approach with the intellectual capability to quickly understand and apply new concepts
  • A confidence to quickly identify key issues, structure a plan, generate insights, and develop strategic options
  • A thorough understanding of strategic evaluation and financial evaluation techniques
  • Excellent ability to create high-quality quantitative analysis and written materials for presentation to senior management and the Board of Directors
  • Strong relationship-building skills and a high level of emotional intelligence to work with and manage stakeholders across the Qantas Group
  • A strong interest in the airline industry and a desire to gain knowledge and experience across a variety of Qantas Group businesses
  • Demonstrated experience in leading project teams and developing staff, contributing to a diverse, collaborative, high-performing and social team environment
