Turbomachinery Packaging Engineer performs process design, mechanical design, Packaging system design, equipment layout, and selection of components to be integrated into packages. This role provides engineering support for Continuous Improvement and new product development and operational optimization as required to maximize their availability and reliability.

As an Investigator, you will be Investigating Mechanical/Hydro Shop/Field Issues independently determines, and develops approaches to solutions for design of Solar Turbine products. Develops solutions to a variety of Shop/Field problems. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in Design Review meeting objectives.

Provides creative and innovative solutions to complex Shop/ Field Investigations problems in area of design. Able to skilfully direct efforts of others in accomplishing major engineering projects

Frequent contacts with Shop floor/field engineers, Suppliers, Supply chain representatives, Controls, ELS,HMI and explain information related to assigned areas of work

Requires full use and application of standard engineering principles, concepts, and techniques of mechanical design, drafting/CADs, with an understanding of established analytical/scientific methods and procedures. Able to interpret engineering drawings. Knowledgeable in the use and application of engineering analysis techniques. Familiar with standard gas turbine manufacturing, quality, design, and analysis methods.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Understand the design problems, requirements and develop appropriate Engineering design solutions and prepare the detailed Investigation report to address the Shop / Field Issue

  • Coordinate with several functional team to progress the design intent (Hydro/Electrical/HMI Groups)

  • Expertise in system & process knowledge in O&G and Power generation industry

  • Good Presentation skill and demonstrate the capability through Design Review Meeting

  • Knowledge on Gas Turbines and Packaging systems & components such as Packaging Systems – Enclosure, Frame Structures, Lube Oil System, Fuel System, Ancillary, Etc.,

  • Good Exposure in performing structural analysis (Creo Simulation)

  • Expertise in Design of sheet metal parts /Fabrication/Structures

  • Good Exposure to Hydro components and its design parameters

  • Perform hand calculations like pressure drop, Flow path, temperature etc.

  • Sizing the components like filters, regulators, Heaters, Coolers and Selection of Instruments, Valves and other components based on the technical specifications.

  • Strong knowledge on material properties and their performance considering offshore & Onshore loading conditions.
  • Must apply practical design considerations and utilize technical knowledge to achieve design objectives relative to manufacturability, cost, quality, and durability.

  • Support innovation by applying the most effective Design solution for new product development.

  • Continuously challenges self-skills in functional area and stays current with industry developments in one’s field of expertise

  • Become part of the product team and form close working relationships by understanding the whole system function and presenting solutions and design direction to the design community in an insightful and timely manner.

  • Excellent in modelling techniques using Creo parametric 7.0

  •  Good exposure to the use of Product Lifecycle Management tool – Windchill

  • Good Exposure on ASME/API/ISO/ANSI & DIN

  • Knowledge on Pipe/Tube/Hose/Hydraulic Swagelok Fittings and Designs/routings

  • Good Exposure in Preparing/Reading P&ID Layouts, sizing the components and system layout from the given technical specifications

  • Hands on experience in Hydro is preferred

Qualification:

A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited college or university or equivalent relevant experience.

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience Good communication, organizational, teaming and analytical skills are a must. Expertise in system & process knowledge in O&G and Power generation industry. Field experience, knowledge on Windchill, BOP & Promis-e would be an added advantage.
