Position Overview:

As an Associate Director, M&A, you will play a pivotal role in our M&A and investments team, contributing to all phases of the deal process. Working closely with senior team members, as an individual contributor, you will assist in the execution of M&A transactions, from initial research and analysis to due diligence, financial modeling, and deal structuring. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven individual to gain hands-on experience.

You will work in our midtown Manhattan office 3 to 5 days every week (number of days varies based on business need) and report to the SVP, Strategy & Chief of Staff to the CEO.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Analysis: Conduct comprehensive financial analysis, including valuation modeling, financial statement analysis, and benchmarking, to support deal decision-making.
  • Market Research: Perform industry and market research to identify potential targets and assess market dynamics, trends, and competitive landscapes.
  • Due Diligence: Assist in due diligence efforts by gathering and analyzing data, preparing diligence reports, and assessing risks and opportunities associated with target companies.
  • Deal Execution: Support senior team members in deal execution, including drafting memos for the Office of the CEO, business case decks, and board presentations, as well as coordinating with legal, accounting, and other external advisors.
  • Stakeholder Management: Interact with stakeholders across Dow Jones and parent News Corporation, providing updates on deal progress, integration updates, resolving inquiries, and ensuring clear communication on all M&A and investment activities
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain relationships with bankers, private equity funds, industry professionals, and other key stakeholders to support business development efforts and identify potential deal opportunities.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams within the organization, including legal & compliance, accounting / tax, HR, and IT teams, to ensure seamless execution of transactions.

You Have:

  • The willingness and ability to work onsite in our midtown Manhattan office at least 3 days and up to 5 days every week (number of days depends on business needs)
  • Minimum 5 years of B2B M&A experience in investment banking or M&A advisory/consulting OR minimum 8 years in corporate development including initial research and analysis, due diligence, valuation modeling, deal structuring, and pre-integration planning
  • Financial modeling expertise
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial analysis tools
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with a keen attention to detail
  • Experience interpreting complex financial data
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and concisely
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred

Pay Range: $160,000 - $205,000
