Mechanical Team Leader

Description -

As the Team Expert in our R&D Mechanical Engineering group at HP Indigo, you will play a crucial role in guiding a talented team of engineers in the development of HP Indigo digital press systems. Leveraging advanced mechanical engineering expertise, you will lead the team through complex technical challenges, foster innovation, and ensure project success. This leadership role is vital for maintaining technical excellence, aligning with organizational goals, and building a collaborative culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance in mechanical design, ensuring compliance with industry best practices and HP Indigo's standards. Lead design reviews to ensure the technical quality of designs at each stage. Drawings Validation to meet high industry and project standards.
  • Lead and Mentor: Drive team development by mentoring engineers, encouraging continuous learning, and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Project Life Cycle Management: Oversee all project stages—from planning to execution and final delivery—ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
  • Escalation Management: Lead efforts in managing customer site escalations using root cause analysis and creative problem-solving to resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
  • System validation: Guide the team to ensure accurate test setups and clear analysis of results. Provide performance evaluations of prototypes, driving troubleshooting efforts when necessary.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Program team ensuring smooth coordination across departments for successful project outcomes.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Experience:
    • At least 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role within an R&D or technical environment.
    • Extensive experience in system development and R&D, preferably with digital presses or multi-disciplinary systems.
    • Expertise in designing mechanical components (machined, sheet metal, plastic parts) and familiarity with production tooling and processes.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of mechanical design principles, including system integration, motion & control, thermal systems, fluid dynamics, and finite elements analysis. Hands-on experience with 3D CAD tools is essential, Creo is an advantage.
  • Design Reviews: Proven ability to lead design reviews such as Concept Design Reviews, Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), and Critical Design Reviews (CDR) to maintain quality and technical consistency in designs.
  • Validation tests: Strong experience in guiding system validation, ensuring comprehensive testing and validation of performance to meet project requirements.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: A demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges, particularly in high-pressure, customer-facing situations.
  • Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively with diverse teams and external partners to meet shared project objectives.
  • Core Skills:
    • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
    • Systemic thinking and holistic problem-solving approach.
    • Capable of managing multiple priorities, working under tight deadlines, and maintaining attention to detail.
    • Adaptable, proactive, and open to driving positive change.
    • Design to cost mindset.
    • Ability to build a collaborative and cohesive team environment.
  • Languages: Fluency in Hebrew and English is essential.
